Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with its rich diversity of flora and fauna. You must purchase entrance tickets ahead of time to visit Macchu Picchu.

We will get a truly real life experience visiting "Both sides" of Lima City; the impressive Shanty Town where you will meet and interact with the locals and children (ticket proceeds go to Shanty Town), then we will have lunch in a typical local restaurant. After lunch, our local tour guide will take us to the great Historical Center to visit palaces, castles, beautiful wooden balconies, and mysterious underground Catacombs.

Tickets to see folk dance showcase with music and dances from across Peru. Performances are intertwined with live music, dancing, and food.

Two nights at a brightly-colored B&B in Lima. This B&B is nestled in the neighborhood called Barranco. At the beginning of the 20th century, Barranco was home to famous Peruvian writers and artists which gave the district a unique character.

A one night stay in Lima at a guesthouse with a beach view. The guesthouse embodies the spirit of Peruvian culture combined with the tranquility of the Pacific. This majestic guesthouse with eight bedrooms/baths and was once home to the Peruvian sculptor Victor Delfin. Cusco is the city we will travel to on our journey to Machu Picchu. The hotel is comfortable and cozy, located a few steps from the Cathedral of Cusco. Its strategic location in a corner of the Plaza Mayor, allowing visitors to enjoy the attractions and restaurants of the city of Cusco.

We will be hiking Macchu Picchu all day. There is no store at Macchu Picchu; so we will be bringing bottled water and snacks for lunch.

With so many ice cream parlors in town, we'll try everything from hot fudge sundaes to soft serve ice cream and thick milkshakes. Who cares about the diet on our fantastic getaway!

We fly into Lima around midnight; so this is for coffee by the hotel for a morning pick-me-up.

Peru is known for Pollos A La Brasas. The origins of the recipe are attributed to Roger Schuler, a Swiss citizen who was in the hotel business in Peru. He devised the specific method of cooking the chicken, observing his cook's technique in preparation, and gradually, along with his business partners, perfected the recipe.The original version consisted of a chicken (cooked in charcoal and marinated only with salt) served with large french fries and traditionally eaten with the fingers, without cutlery. Pollo a la brasa is considered to be a staple item on the menu of Peruvian/American fusion restaurants.

Located across from our hotel, this chic and contemporary new restaurant called Limo offers stupendous views of the Plaza de Armas and surrounding mountains from the enclosed terrace would alone be enough to recommend it.

Lima is one of the top culinary cities in the world. La Rosa Nautica is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Miraflores and the only restaurant in Lima that is on the water. La Rosa Náutica is a rambling Victorian-style building perched over the Pacific at the end of a long pier. Its gazebo-like dining rooms have spectacular views of the water, where surfers ride the breakers by day.

Once we fly to Cusco, you only have one way to get to Machu Picchu: you must take a 4-hour train ride. The train is surrounded entirely by glass with large panoramic windows offering incomparable scenic views and innumerous opportunities to capture amazing pictures.

A few times, we will have to take a taxi in Lima to get to/from the hotel.
