Las Terrazas
Dear Friends & Family!
Thank you for visiting our Honeymoon Wishes page. It took us a loooong time to finally decide on our Honeymoon destination. We were set on Thailand, and after months of researching and mapping out our trip, we decided that we won't have enough time to travel to such a far away destination and explore everything that the region has to offer. We then decided that Belize is exotic and off the beaten path enough to fulfill all of our travel needs. What is there not to love about the jungle, monkeys, caves, ancient Mayan ruins, the world's second largest reef, and riding around an island on golf carts?!

Here's the breakdown on what we'll be doing. First we arrive to Belize City and head out into the mountains to spend four days at Frank Coppola's very own luxury resort - Blancaneaux Lodge. We booked the Deluxe Honeymoon Suite set in the mountaintops of Belize with its own private infinity pool. We will spend some time relaxing, and we'll also embark on numerous adventures to explore the local culture, flora and fauna. Next we head west into Guatemala for just a couple of days to check out the world's most ancient Mayan ruins, Tikal. Guatemala will be our home for only two nights, and we hope to have enough energy left to explore the local towns surrounding Lake Peten Itza. We then take a somewhat lengthy, but I am sure enjoyable, shuttle ride back to Belize City where we will embark on our last leg of the trip to the very known island of Ambergris Caye. For the next 5 nights, we will be staying 5 miles north of San Pedro - a tiny town where no cars are allowed! Mike is especially excited about cruising around in a golf cart! Our last home will be a Deluxe Beachfront Casita at the Mata Chica Beach Resort - mind you we can only get here by a water taxi. The resort is set on a secluded stretch of natural white-sand beach facing the world’s second-largest barrier reef. We are excited about lounging around on our casita's very own hammock and waking up to the sound of the water right in front of us. We plan to take it easy for the most part, kayak around for some snorkeling, and go on a guided trip to swim with the sharks. If time permits, we'll spoil ourselves with a private couple's massage on the beach and visit the neighboring beach bars.

Half Day Snorkel Trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve & Shark Ray Alley

Half Day Snorkel Trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve & Shark Ray Alley

Hol Chan means little channel in Mayan and is a natural break on the barrier reef where ocean depth ranges from three to thirty feet. Here we will enjoy seeing the breathtaking myriad of marine life and huge coral garden, among which are flourishing stag horn corals and sea fans. Shark Ray Alley is a shallow water snorkel where we will enjoy swimming with the harmless nurse sharks and southern stingrays. This sanctuary was officially established in 1987 and since then the return of all species of fish has been quite dramatic. Due to its protected status, what was once a depleted fishing area has now been allowed to re-generate, producing a quite colorful fish spectacle.
