Thailand - Island hopping the Andaman Sea!
Sawasdee Kah!
We are writing from our (incredible!) honeymoon trip to Thailand. After needing to focus a bit after the wedding, the honeymoon was well worth the wait. Thailand was chosen because of its exotic beauty, tropical and hydrating jungles, breathtaking Buddhist temples, and - quite frankly - it was a place neither of us had been to before.
Our journey began in Phuket where we got in at 1am and had to stay relatively close to the airport. The Hilltop Hotel overlooked all of Phuket, and exploring the streets of new town/old town Phuket was a great time.
Within less than 11 hours after our arrival to Thailand, we were on a car ride towards the first of three destinations (thanks Matheo for the luxury limousine service upgrade!). The private car dropped us off at the Ao Nang pier after a three hour ride along the coast of the Andaman Sea, where a Thai long boat escorted us to the Rayadavee Resort for our second night of the trip in Krabi, Thailand.
Holy Moly - Rayadavee is truly the most magnificent place either of us have ever stayed. (Cindy, the room upgrade was such a nice gesture- thanks!). Our villa is surrounded by jungle and a short 2 minute walk takes us to Railay Beach (one of the most popular beaches in Thailand). The hotel greeting was one to remember, with a customary coconut-lemon sorbet beverage, fresh flower garland (for Cass) and all the tropical fruit in our room we could ever need. Also, everywhere you go, the people are the sweetest and most considerate - fresh cold lemon face towels, natural mosquito repellent, and fresh floral touches where ever you look.
It hasn't even been the first 24 hours and we have experienced so much to be grateful for. Thank you to everyone who has made a contribution towards some time for ourselves.
Coming up: A jungle tour, sunset cruise on a 100 year-old Siamese sailing junk (Thanks, Nick!), relaxation and our continued journey to the Island of Koh Yoh Yai (Sanythia Resort) before reaching our final destination of Naka Island Resort.
With so much love and appreciation,
Cassandra & Tim
P.S: Those of you may know that his majesty the late king of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyade, passed away a little over a month ago. There are huge billboards and signage that display his photo and black ribbon/garlands everywhere you look. There is so much honor for the late king, which created a somber experience while driving all around- but it's very clear how kind and respectful the people of Thailand are.
