The tour starts with a drive through the beautiful landscape of the Scottish Borders, the southern part of the country with its picturesque towns and villages. We'll then stop at Melrose Abbey - widely regarded as one of the most beautiful ruins in Europe. Robert the Bruce`s heart is thought to be buried at the Abbey and it is the final resting place of a number of other Scottish Kings. The star attraction of the tour is Alnwick Castle, where we will have maximum time to explore the castle and the gardens. It is full of fascinating things to see and mysteries to uncover. You may recognize it as a location from some of the Harry Potter films (eek!) and Downton Abbey! The road home will take us up the stunning east coast and stop at Bamburgh, where we'll be able to take pictures of the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. We will then pass some beautiful sights, such as the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and the picturesque coastal town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

We'll take a trip to Urquhart Castle a magnificent castle that dates back to the 14th Century and was once a garrison that controlled the Great Glen. Nowadays it's a popular place with "Nessie" hunters; in fact there have been more sightings from the castle than anywhere else! We will explore the castle and keep a close watch for Nessie and a camera ready - just in case!

We'll enjoy a guided walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns, visit unusual/hidden restaurants, shops and bars, and taste dishes specially prepared for us. As well as having starter, main course, cheese, charcuterie and dessert during the tour, there will be the chance to taste Haggis neeps & tatties, enjoy a wine tasting, Malt whisky tasting and one or two other food and drink surprises along the way.

The catch of the day awaits us! As seafood lovers it will be hard to choose from the different types of seafood restaurants and the variety of fresh fish, all complemented by delectable side dishes, fresh vegetables, and an incredible selection of wines. A delicious treat!

We look forward to reserving an intimate candlelit dinner. We'll choose a quiet restaurant with a warm atmosphere, outstanding cuisine and impeccable service.

Haggis is traditionally served with the Burns supper on January 25th, when Scotlands national poet, Robert Burns, is commemorated. He wrote the poem Address to a Haggis, which starts "Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin-race! Aboon them a' ye tak your place...." In other words, if you're in Scotland, you have to try it!

We will visit all the trendy stores on the main street in the heart of the busy city, checking out the classically elegant European clothes in all the boutiques. We'll shop until we drop!

Help us get from Point A to Point B throughout our trip when walking just isn't an option!

We'll have 3 days to explore some of the most dramatic and beautiful places in the Highlands and the romantic island of Skye. Highlights also include Glencoe, Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle and the 5 Sisters of Kintail.
