What brought Allan and I together was our love of travel and our values. We both want to make the world a better place. Since you have already read our story on our website, we want to take the time here to describe our honeymoon plan to you since it is a bit unique. Most people take a week or two for their honeymoon. We want to go on an adventure of a lifetime to start our lives together and challenge ourselves in many ways. We want to start a family, but first we want to see the world together. We want to learn more about ourselves, our relationship, and the world. This is not a 6-9 month vacation. We plan to work, volunteer, and research. We want to have an enriching experience, where we not only go on fun excursions, but we also give back to the communities we will be visiting. We plan to teach English in rural schools, work on farms, help with ecotourism, and research intentional communities for our future plans of starting a summer camp/community ourselves. We also plan to apply what we learn down there to getting Doctorate degrees down the road. Most of these volunteer projects are free, but in order to reduce the costs of our trip we are asking for help with the excursions that will burn through our money fast. If the more expensive costs are covered, we can focus our money and energy on our volunteer work. We will be documenting our work on our blog, so you can follow us.
