Your tour will commence from the pier with a short drive through the city center and along the harbor. Leaving Cagliari, you will head north through the countryside to discover the real Sardinia across the fertile Campidano plains, passing through fields of grain and vineyards until you reach the village of Serdiana where you shall visit the renowned Argiolas Winery. Their history began in 1918 when Francesco Argiolas started from scratch and planted the first vines with the assistance of some prisoners of war. But it was only with Antonio Argiolas, today 97 years old, that a new way of running the business began. A man of great enthusiasm and long experience in viticulture, Argiolas bought new estates, not only vineyards but also olive groves, with the aim to set up a new, modern farm. He succeeded. Now three generations work in the company which is one of the most important and most renowned wineries of Sardinia, producing only high quality wines. The most well-known Sardinian grapes are: Vermentino, Nuragus, Carignano, Monica, Cannonau, Bovale, and Nasco. Visiting the estate, you will learn more about these vines and will taste four (4) different wines with some local bread, cheese and salami. The tour of the venue will allow you to visit different sections of the wine production areas including the fermentation room, the barrels room with over 1700 aging barrels, the bottling area, and the storage room. After the tasting you have the option of purchasing some wines before returning to the ship.
