The only present-day survivors of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. By standing at the very foot of the pyramids or Khufu (Cheops), Khafre (Chephren) and Menkaure (Mycerinus) we will appreciate the skill and determination of the Ancient Egyptians who built them 4500 years ago. No trip to Luxor is complete without a visit to the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor, dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun-Min, Mut and Khonsu. Founded by Amenophis III in the XVIII Dynasty, it was added by successful pharaohs including Tutankhamun, Horemheb and notably by Ramses II. This will be a honeymoon experience we will not forget!

Sound and Light Show at Abu Simbel

We'll visit Abu Simbel to see magnificent temples, including the renowned four giant seated figures, which were built in the 13th century B.C. by Rameses II and are thought to depict him and his queen, Nefertari. The colossal structures were dismantled and moved to this new location during construction of the Aswan High Dam that created Lake Nasser, a major engineering feat in and of itself. After a guided tour, we'll enjoy a sound and light show at Abu Simbel.

We'll cruise across Lake Nasser to Amada and take an afternoon tour of the small but interesting Nubian Amada Temple. The oldest of the Lake Nasser temples, it houses a collection of brightly painted historical carvings. Afterwards, we'll head to Kasr Ibrim where we'll attend a Nubian show featuring traditional music, dance and costumes. Yippee!

As we wander through the labyrinth of narrow passageways we will find workshops and merchants selling everything from woodwork, glassware and leather goods to perfumes, spices, fabrics and Pharaonic curiosities. We will need to brush up on our bargaining skills!
