Escape the hustle and bustle of your Resort and race with your JetSki through the River Delta of Islabon upwards to the tropical forests, through mangrove swamps to enjoy the unspoiled nature just by yourself!

Imagine being raised 150 feet up in the air, wind hitting your face and the beautiful Caribbean ocean under your feet giving away to a spectacular tropical island view. Well stop imaging it and come enjoy this 12 minute ride of pure fun and relaxation. All you really need is a swimsuit and a camera, and to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

The Damajaqua Cascades (27 Waterfalls) are a series of waterfalls about 25 minutes from Puerto Plata. The entrace fee covers everything you need (shoes, helmet, life jacket, guide). In order to enjoy the canyoning adventure, you hike up the mountain for about an hour until you reach the falls and work your way back down the river by jumping and sliding through pools of water - this can be challenging so you shouldn't have any physical limitations or fear of jumping from ~10-20 ft falls. After rain, the water is a little murky as well as higher/faster than normal. It's clear and gorgeous other times.

Some of the best shopping in Puerto Plata can be found just by wandering around the city. The streets are teeming with activity and dotted with a variety of gift shops such as the Grand Factory, a large jewelry shop with original amber work made by the owners of the store. In the Central Park area there are bazaar-like shops such as Casa Nelson, where the locals get daily items for reasonable prices. Dominican sweets, marmalades, foods and quality rums can be found in Puerto Plata supermarkets. Further from the coast in the hills of the city there is a handicraft market with vendors of such crafts as amber and larimar jewelry, basketwork, pottery, ceramics, wood sculpture, and Haitian painting. Some of these vendors will visit the major hotels in the evenings, selling their wares.
