December 30 - Evening tour of the blue penguin colony to view them when they come onto the beach the night we arrive. Oamaru is the breeding ground for these unique penguins and they come ashore at dusk.

January 2 - Kayaking through Doubtful Sound with Fiordland Adventures in Fiordland National Park

January 3 - Three hours of classic jet boating action as the driver negotiates the channels of the magnificent glacier-fed Dart River, speeding in as little as 10cm of water and adding to the excitement with thrilling jet spins.

They built a platform on the edge of a cliff 360ft above the Shotover River. At the platform you are fitted into a seat and chest harness and connected to the jump ropes. The rush starts as you leap from the high cliff edge. Gravity accelerates you for 60 metres of freefall just metres from the vertical cliff face. Reaching speeds of 150kph as the canyonous rocks rush towards you before the ropes smoothly swing you past.

January 5 - The trail zig-zags steeply uphill for 45 minutes through ferns and regenerating temperate rainforest. From high on the track you enjoy fantastic views of the glacier and its upper and lower icefalls, then the route takes you onto the ice amongst crevasses and ice ridges and leads you onto the middle of the glacier for spectacular views of the icefall and lower glacier.

Started in Rotorua, Zorb-ing is rolling down a hill in a big inflatable ball with water in it. It's the cross between a water slide and a roller coaster.

On the North Island, Taupo, near Rotorua is the skydiving capital of New Zealand

Near Rotorua, sculptured out of volcanic activity and thousands of years in the making, Wai-O-Tapu is considered to be New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction.

January 12 - Boat cruise out to Poor Knight's Island marine preserve including snorkeling or diving, kayaking through caves and close encounters with dolphins and other sea animals

December 27 - 29 - Kicking off our honeymoon in Sydney, Australia before heading to New Zealand

December 30 - Oamaru, NZ - Our first night in NZ and home of blue penguin colony

December 31, New Year's Eve, and January 2 and 3 - Queenstown, the Adventure Capital

January 1 - Te Anau - Gateway to Fiordland National Park

January 4 - Town of Fox Glacier at the base of the glacier

January 7 and 8 - Wellington - the city between the two islands

January 8 and 9 - Hotel resort with rooms and cabins and hot springs and pools. We've reserved a private cabin.

December 30-January 6 - We'll drive the entire South Island from south to north until we get to the ferry to take us to the North Island.

January 6 - Bluebridge Ferry from Picton to Wellington

January 8 - Fly from Wellington to Rotorua - the Geothermal Activity Capital

January 10 - Flight from Rotorua to Whangarei - the northernmost point of the North Island

January 10-14 - Car Rental in Northland - the northern tip of the North Island
