The Bride: Helen Alfaro, mother of 3. Researcher for Cerner Multum in Denver, writing patient education drug leaflets for client databases and many internet websites. Her passion is her Arabian horse, and competing in local and regional horse shows. Helen is a muti-tasking workaholic with too many hobbies and never enough time. Most intersting fact: Once sang backup for Barry Manilow (really!)
Our ceremony and reception will be on Saturday June 23rd at Dark Star Farm in Deerfield Estates, about 30 miles SE of Denver just outside of Franktown. The ceremony will start at 4:30pm with a dinner and dance reception following immediately afterward. Please plan to arrive by 4:15. Dark Star Farm houses a private training facility with two resident trainers and a barn full of Warmbloods, Saddlebreds, and Arabian horses. Please feel free to explore the barn during our reception, and make time to visit these magnificent animals. You will find most of them pleasantly eager to greet you.
Dark Star Farm has hosted weddings and many annual charity benefit events. Proprietor, Deb Strachan, is no stranger to having 200+ guests for dinner. The indoor arena has ample room for dinner seating, large dance floor, and audio/video set-up. The arena surface is a sand and recycled rubber, so it is pleasantly dust-free. You will probably forget you're in a horse barn once you step into the reception set-up we have planned for you. We're very fortunate that our horse trainer, Lisa Ferguson, co-owns Edge Audio Productions with her husband, Andy. More than just a DJ, Edge Audio services large corporate events, proms, outdoor parties, and weddings. With a music library of almost 30,000 songs, they can have your requests playing in a matter of minutes. Please enjoy!
We both have a love of horses and are planning an equestrian honeymoon. After researching hundreds of ranches and other horse-related resorts throughout the country, we selected Bar W Guest Ranch in Whitefish, Montana (www.thebarw.com) near Kalispell. Helen has never been to Montana, but Mark has driven through it many times when he owned his own trucking business. Whenever Mark was in Montana, Helen could always rely on him calling her to tell her how beautiful it was up there. We have the "Aspen Suite" reserved, which has a rather unique bathtub with a beautiful view...you have to see it on the website.
