We lived together before we dated. It made the move-in easy! LOL Turns out we are well suited and before you know it Matt was packing up and moving to Sam's side of the house!
Matt insisted he would be proposing literally months after our relationship began, and almost two years to the day of his actual move-in - he was right (for once!) he proposed! That is a story in itself....
It was a cold and nasty Sunday, March 16th. We awoke and went for our health walk along the canal. It was so cold, Sam was hopping around, even made Matt run for a minute! Then he announced he needed to tie his shoe...while he was down on one knee...Sam's reponse was not the most appropriate: "you are NOT doing what i think you are doing on this nasty day by the nasty canal with dead fish!?" After the initial shock (he did surprise Sam!) we rather enjoyed the tale, and went for sushi to celebrate that evening - more dead fish! And to keep in theme, we have planned our wedding on a small fishing island! Can't wait to see the centerpieces...can you?

We have a lovely boutique resort reserved for our wedding celebration! Isla Mujeres Palace is on a small island off the Yucatan of Mexico, just outside of Cancun (this is where you fly in). You take a short ferry ride to the 5-mile island with lapping clear waters and 80 degree weather, year round!
The resort is a 4.5* ALL-INCLUSIVE property - emphasis on ALL. Your accommodations, meals, snack, ALL beverages are included! You can snorkel, Kayak, hang in a hammock or lay beachside with cocktails all day! Or visit the resident shark! Your transport to & from the airport is included - a shuttle to the ferry, the ferry ride and a taxi will meet you at port and take you to the property.
The actual wedding will take place FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2009 on the beach @ 3PM!

We anticipate a 3-day celebration! Hoping most can arrive by Thursday, knowing many may extend their stay to enjoy the island life in winter! We are making arrangements for a sunset sail by catamaran, snorkel & island tour. Keep you posted on further developments...
You can also rent scooters or golf carts to tour the island. Some of the beaches are the best in Mexico! You can swim with dolphins or turtles! Zip line across the water! Go fishing! Explore the national park area. Plenty to do on and off property!
Isla Mujeres has a long and colorful history. In Mayan times the island served as the sanctuary for the goddess Ixchel, the Mayan Goddess of fertility, reason, medicine, and the moon. The Temple was located at the South point of the island and was also used as the lighthouse. The light from torches was shown through holes in the walls, which could be seen by the navigators at sea. The Mayans to also came to the island to harvest salt from the salt lagoons.
In March of the year 1517, Francisco Hernandez Cordova discovered the island. When the Spanish expedition landed, they found many female shaped idols representing the goddess Ixchel, thus Isla Mujeres got its name.
