Patricia Boyer & Zachary Starks
Location: Newport News, VA
In the continued battle of North versus South, in the instance of Tricia Dawn and Zachary Starks a marriage has prevailed. Zach, a proud northerner at heart (seems some stereotypes are true!), never thought he would leave the great state of New Jersey. In December 2005, he found himself in the southern state of Virginia. While not that southern to most, Zach was bombarded by southern customs such as slow driving, the inability to drive in the rain, the lack of culinary expertise in the area of pizza, and there is no pork roll!
In Virginia, Tricia Dawn thought the hard part was over when she graduated from college in 2006. Having bills to pay (the sad reality of the “real” world), Tricia found herself in corporate hell.
Every person has his or her own perfect match in the world. And it just so happened that our northerner, despising the South so, met his southern bell with a northern twist! In a very unique way, Tricia and Zach hit it off from the very beginning—sharing late nights at Kelley’s while arguing over football teams, the benefits of being a Duke and an Oriole fan, all the while swearing allegiance to the Skins and the Giants. Then after awhile, as these things tend to do, Tricia and Zach “just kind of happened.” In a whirlwind fashion, as true love tends to be, the two quickly knew they had found their other, equal halves. Now all Tricia had to do was prove she could “hang” with the northerners. After several weekends in Jersey, Zach was commended for having found the only “Yankee” in Virginia.
Three hundred and sixty four days later, (April 13) Zach popped the question. Plans had been made, rings had been picked out, and several outfits were “on call.” For their one year anniversary, the happy couple decided to go to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner (and dessert of course!). Lacking the nerves of steel it takes to propose in a crowded restaurant, Zach carried his nervous butt back to the car, sweating palms and all, as soon as the check was signed. Tricia never doubted for a moment that it was happening that day. In fact, she swooned over the fact that Zach proposed in his car—the very same place the happy could became a happy couple! Stuttering and stammering, the proposal was made. Cheesing, Tricia was adorned with her beautiful engagement ring—and the text messaging began!
Planners were purchased, colors picked out, dresses were paid for, dates were moved, hair was pulled out, compromises were made…and now the count down is on. The happy couple weds May 2, 2009 at the Warwick Yatch club.
The wedding is at WYCC in Newport News, Va. We pick WYCC due to the location over looking the water and the huge windows inside the location. The place allows us to get married inside or out, so if the weather is on our side the wedding will be outside. While food and dancing will be held inside.
Thank you soo much for allowing us to go on our honeymoon! Without everyones help we wouldn't be able to go. :)
