The Perfect Wedding Gift!

Your own islands in the Bahamas!

Posted: June 26, 2018

The Perfect Wedding Gift!

We can dream, right?!

What’s better than your own private island? Two private islands.

And that’s precisely the offering of Bahamas real estate brokerage HG Christie, which has the listing on a pair of sun-soaked cays in the Berry Islands of The Bahamas, about 35 miles to the northwest of Nassau.

The $26 million listing includes both Frozen Cay and Alder Cay, which together combine for more than 85 acres of beach-filled real estate — including a natural bird sanctuary.

For the uninitiated, the Berry Islands are a tiny archipelago with some of the Bahamas’ most beautiful beaches, anchored by the island of Great Harbour Cay, once a world-renowned destination and now a bit of a secret for intrepid beach lovers.

Both islands are accessible by seaplane or private boat.

Frozen Cay already boasts a six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 4,145-square-foot private home, with everything from a large kitchen to a heated swimming pool, along with a manager’s cottage with four bedrooms of its own.

Frozen Cay also has its own small marina that can accommodate yachts of up to 100 feet.

Alder Cay, which has its own five-care lagoon, has a staff house with three bedrooms and a fishing camp with seven individual units.

That means you get the exclusivity of your own private cays, without having to go through the work of starting on an empty canvas.

According to HG Christie, the islands are also “serviced by full utility/communications systems, service/support building including 2 diesel generators, fuel tanks, freshwater production facilities and water cisterns.” In other words, they’re ready for you.

Blue is the New Green

The Caribbean’s First “Blue” Destination

Blue is the New Green

From the Caribbean Journal

Bonaire is aiming to position itself as a progressive island toward synergizing people and nature, which it hopes will increase its competitive position and status as a leader in the preservation of its assets.

Bonaire was the first Caribbean island to have a protected marine park, with protection of nature always being a priority of its sustainable tourism policies.

The island’s economic development plan is built on sustainability and 40 percent of the island already uses clean energy.

Becoming a Blue Destination is aligned with Bonaire’s culture, history and the heritage of people who have embraced and protected the ocean for their livelihood, officials said in a statement to Caribbean Journal.

“Bonaire looks forward to adapt the Blue concept and share this with its stakeholders, community and visitors,” a representative said in a statement.

Throughout the upcoming months, Bonaire will have various events dedicated to orienting itself as a Blue Destination, including the launch of a national social campaign: “What is Blue to You?”

This campaign will serve as a promotional vehicle to get locals involved in the conservation and marketing efforts of the island.

There will also be a community event in correlation to the Bonaire International Sailing Regatta – which takes place October 10, 2018 – where Bonaire will officially declare itself a Blue Destination.

The launch comes as Bonaire welcomed American Airlines’ first-ever nonstop flights from Miami to Bonaire this weekend.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico Debuts New Wedding Chapel

Hotel Xcaret Mexico has opened its exclusive on-site chapel, the new Capilla de Todos los Ángeles (All Angels Chapel), located on the highest point of the Xpiral Pyramid. The chapel serves as a venue for couples who choose the Mexican Caribbean as the location for their wedding ceremony.

Located on one of the highest points of the property, Hotel Xcaret Mexico’s chapel provides views of the ocean and property grounds.

The chapel decor is characterized by an altar carved out of a large boulder and benches made from natural stone and wood. The location offers two access points either through a set of stairs or a ramp. Couples also have the option of having an alfresco ceremony with the sliding doors to let in the breeze, or having a closed-door ceremony with air conditioning.

In addition to weddings, other ceremonies can take place at the chapel, such as baptisms, where guests can enjoy sounds of the Xcaret choir and traditional Mexican indigenous drummers.

When there are no ceremonies scheduled, Catholic mass will be held every Sunday at the new chapel, offering hotel guests the opportunity to visit this sanctuary without tying the knot.

Couples can choose from three wedding packages that range from basic that includes a Minister, wedding coordinator, makeup and hair stylist for the bride, and wedding cake, to premium package that includes live music, a private dinner and a premium bar.

The Xpiral Pyramid opened in March and, in addition to the chapel, it offers a lounge that can host a variety of events, a restaurant and the Hotel Xcaret’s X Lounge. From the top of Xpiral, guests get access to views of the Mexican Caribbean from more than 160 feet above sea level.
