This is our love story
"When are you going to stop making life about work and start living life." A conversation I had with my brothers far too often. They were right!
A good friend from high school invited me to a private adult only group on Facebook where the group would get together, mingle and discuss topics on relationships. What better way to become social, so I joined. I got a notification one day about a new member that had been added. I opened the notification and there was the most breathtaking woman I had seen since my mother. I literally was at a lost for words. All I could do was stare at her picture. I had to say something. So I did. I sent her an inbox on Facebook, my exact words to her was, "My God you are breathtaking." I told myself, I'm going to make her my wife.
"You should join this social group I'm in, we get together often, talk about relationships and we always have a good time", was a statement my best friend said to me several times.
I was not interested at all, but she convinced me after I got tired of her asking. She added me to the group and shortly after I received a message from one of the members in the group. The message read, "My God you are breathtaking." That was the first time I've heard those lines, was my response. We exchanged a few words before Michael asked if I was attending the next social group's gathering. It was a pool party that he was hosting. I had no intention on attending. The conversation ended shortly after.
Fast forward, I arrived at the pool party with my friends, walked into the backyard and there was Michael cooking on the grill. He turned around and saw me walking in, he totally forgot about the grill and the food on it. He watched me almost the whole night without saying a word to me. My friends and I were sitting by the poolside when Michael jumped in the pool splashing all of us. He swam by us, grabbed my foot and smiled. He eventually came over to sit next to me. We sat by the pool and talked all night. The friends I arrived with ended up leaving the party and I stayed continuing to talk with Michael. I was the last to leave
It wasn't long until we went on our first date. Each location and every detail was well thoughtout. From having the entire upstairs of the restaurant to ourselves, to going to my favorite place for dessert. Michael and I had only been dating for a short time when I told him I was relocating to Charlotte. His response was, I'll follow you there. Not long after we were together again, he kept his word. I knew right then, Michael was the one.
Michael planned a surprise trip to Antigua for my birthday, where he proposed over dinner.
Neither one of us was looking for love nor were we interested in meeting anyone new. We both knew we desired to find love at some point in our lives, we just didn't expect it to happen when it did. In each other we've found peace. She is the light to my darkness and he is the calm to my chaos.
