The great glacial rivers of southwest Iceland put the freezy-fun in whitewater rafting and canyoning (that's when we climb waterfalls and fling ourselves off cliffs and swim in watery caves)!

Steps away from our hotel is the famous and historic (225 years and running!) Mariinsky Theatre, where we'll enjoy Russian ballet or international opera during the Festival of White Nights. Move over, Barishnikov!

Not far outside of Reykjavík lies Geysir--after which all other Geysers in the world were named--as well as Gullfoss falls.

We'll have couple on you at the local bar or at our favorite saloon. Skal! Cheers!

The Blue Lagoon--the biggest, steamiest, other-worldly geothermal bathtub in the world. Set in a tortured black lava field, just off the road between Keflavik and Grandavik, this eerie, milky-blue super-heated sea-water spa would make a great backdrop to ridley scott's next film! imagine roiling clouds of steam and people daubed in blue-white silica mud. how will we recognize bjork?!

This sublime boat ride into the Trollfjord is said to be spectacularly steep and narrow -- a real moving excursion!

We hear Reykjaik is renowned for its citizens' passion for the weekend pub crawl. From midnight till about 5 am, the city cafes and bistros are said to become raucous, beer-soaked bars. More than the drinking, our sources tell us, it's the upbeat energy that's extraordinary--and catchy.

(They don't have a picture of this) We'll get astonishingly close to whales and dolphins on quiet oak-hulled boats. If we're really silent--and lucky--we may spot humpback, fin, sei or blue whales, too.

After each day of hiking and/or cycling Norway's rugged shoreline, jagged mountains and abandoned farms, we hope to hit one of the Lofoten Island's tiny fishing shanties (converted to love shack for two, of course). It may even have an ice fishing hole in the center of the floor!

With your wedding gift we can plan ahead and upgrade to a romantic honeymoon suite during our few-day stay in the Venice of the North. Our suite will be just steps from the Hermitage and more canals, creeks, rivers, gulfs and ponds than you can shake a Russian revolver at. We will be pampered in tsar style and comfort, leaving us with "suite" memories! * If we receive this item, we'll see our travel agent/hotelier to handle the details.

One appetizer won't be enough while we wait for the sun to set....

We'll toast to our new life together as we uncork the effervescence of a bottle of champagne. Skal! (Cheers!)

Norway's Svolvaer Island has a secret dining hideaway for inventive romantic dinners that specialize in -- what else? -- fish. We've been thinking about the award-winning chef's creation: fresh halibut over cheesy risotto and squash. Mm.

Not only is the first mini vodka shot free, but it's said that Dostoevsky used to hang out in this homey basement eatery. We'll be on the lookout for gloomy philosophical types!

There'll be no pysla (that's Icelandic for "hot dog") at least one night during our honeymoon. The catch of the day awaits us, thanks to you! We'll find a romantic place where they serve strange and delightful Icelandic fruits of the sea.

Sjavarkjallarinn has been called THE BEST dining experience to be had in Reykjavik. With its subterranean atmosphere and exotic dishes, it's probably at the top of the $$ charts, too, so we'll stick to the whatever appies we can find that combine succulent crustaceans with ... pomegranate, coconut, litchi and chilli!

Mm! The perfect way to eat breakfast -- with bed-head. Eggs florentine, cinnamon rolls, freshly squeezed orange juice, hot coffee and the house specialties, all will taste better in bed!

We hope to find something delectable to top off our top-of-the-world dinner. Maybe it'll be avaxtagrautur (stewed fruit) or skyr (a thick yogurt concoction made from skimmed milk and bacteria culture!). Or just plain ol' sukkulaoi (chocolate).

Hopefully not on a sailboat, but that's the only picture they had with a boat in it--this is to go from the mainland to the Lofoten islands--above the arctic circle!

The shortest distance between Points A (a town) and B (Svolvaer) is a ferry ride. Help get us get to and from A (that's the name of the well-preserved 19th century Norwegian fishing village set high atop forbidding rocks. It's connected by wooden footbridges. Its shores are lined with red-painted rorbuer (winter shanties), many of which jut into the sea. We'll snack on rack-dried cod that line the streets.

One of our first excursions will be taking a train from London to visit our friends Robert and Laurie in Durham.

This train ride, from the Oslo in the east of Norway to Bergen on the west coast, is supposed to be one of the most spectacular train rides in the world!

After Durham, we'll head to Edinburgh to see some sights (and have a glass . . . or two) of scotch!

We hear cycling is one of the best ways to experience Iceland's unbelievable landscape -- from bridges to mountains to waterfalls to ice caves. They say the only things the locals fear is "a flat planet."
