Things You Should Know

Time Zone: Puerto Vallarta is on Central Time Zone (same time as Texas), which is two hours ahead of California and one hour behind New York.
Language: The primary language is Spanish, but in high tourist areas you will find English to be secondary.
Currency: The national Mexican currency is the peso, but the US dollar is widely accepted.
ATMs/Banks: If your debit or credit card has an Interact, Cirrus, or Plus logo on it you can use it at cash machines throughout Puerto Vallarta.
Entry Requirements: Effective 2007 passports are required to enter or leave Mexico.
Water: Even though water in Puerto Vallarta is some of the best in Mexico it is still recommended to use bottled water.

Puerto Vallarta is on the same parallel as Hawaii, so it shares the same tropical weather! The average temperature is 84 degrees cooling to about 70 degrees at night. The rainy season in mid- June to mid-October brings tropical rains and temperatures in the 90s.
