FAQs

You can find answers to all your questions here! Don't see your question on this list? Just ask! Submit any questions/concerns you have to amylandry129@gmail.com with the subject line WEDDING QUESTION.

Q: Are you having an open bar or a cash bar?

A: We will be having a CASH BAR. There will be beer, wine, and liquor available for purchase.

Q: How does your registry work?

A: Even though our registry is broken into categories and specific excursions, that doesn't mean the gift you're giving is going to that specific thing. The categories are there mainly as guideline - just examples of things we CAN put the money toward on our honeymoon. The gift you give just goes into a big pile that we can use for anything on our honeymoon. So if you gift us a "sunset catamaran cruise", we don't necessarily have to put that money toward the cruise - we can use it to help cover airfare if we need to, or another excursion, or food/drinks, etc.

Q: Do you have a block of rooms reserved at the hotel?

A: We have discounted rates at The Grove Hotel, where we'll be getting married. They don't actually hold a "block" of rooms, so it's first come first served. It's a double hockey night weekend that weekend (the hotel is a part of the arena) so rooms may sell out fast! You'll have 48 hours before check-in to cancel with no fee. You'll have to have your room booked no later than November to enjoy the discount.

We do still have our block of rooms at Home2 Suites, which is 1 block away from The Grove. If you prefer to keep or make your reservations there, feel free!

Q: What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

A: Please arrive on the 4th floor terrace between 4:30 - 4:45.

Q: What can I do to help?

A: We will need people helping to decorate beforehand and to pack up after. If you'd like to volunteer your services, please email me at amylandry129@gmail.com so that I can compile a contact list for vendors and other helpers.

Q: Where are the ceremony and reception taking place?

A: The ceremony and reception will be held at The Grove Hotel in Downtown Boise.

The ceremony will take place outside on the 4th floor Terrace. Fire pits, blankets, and coffee/hot chocolate will be provided to keep you toasty.

The cocktail hour & reception will be in the ballroom on the 2nd floor.

Q: Where should I park?

A: The Grove Hotel offers valet parking for around $23 for the day. There's also a public parking garage across the street. Those rates go for around $15 for the day.

However - The Grove provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport.

Q: What is the dress code for your wedding?

A: Semi-formal/cocktail attire. The ceremony will be taking place outdoors in January, so you may want to bring a jacket or wrap, although blankets, fire pits, and coffee/hot chocolate will be provided for your comfort.

Q: What are some fun things to do in/around Boise?

A: Downtown is nice to explore, especially Freak Alley Gallery. If you like the great outdoors, you can always explore the trail systems in the foothills; Table Rock is especially neat, offering great views of downtown. Take a trip to Zoo Boise or the Idaho Botanical Gardens; stroll through Kathryn Albertson Park or the Boise River Greenbelt; visit the Old Idaho Penitentiary Site, The Peregrine Fund's World Center For Birds of Prey, or the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, ID.

Around Boise are all the mountain resorts! If you want to ski or snowboard, Bogus Basin is close by. Or take a trip to any of the resorts near McCall (about 2 hours from Boise) - Jug Mountain, Tamarack, Brundage, to name a few.

An hour north of Boise is the cute, old mining town of Idaho City. Soak in the natural hot springs of The Springs, explore snowy mountain trails, or go to the local ice cream parlor for some huckleberry ice cream!

Q: What are some good spots for drinks/dinner?

A: Bittercreek Alehouse has the best buffalo cheese curds ever! They also have beer and a full liquor bar.

Yoi Tomo has the BEST sushi, and they offer All You Can Eat! It's definitely worth it!

Fork is a popular dinner destination in Downtown Boise.

Eureka has good food and great Bloody Marys.

Luciano's is a nice spot for Italian food. Il Sugo is fantastic, as well.

If you're looking for amazing tacos, Tacos el Rey and Fiesta Chicken have GREAT, authentic tacos.

Prost! has yummy German beers and a cozy atmosphere.

Loose Screw Beer Co. is a bit further away, but is our favorite brewery around!

Boise Brewing, 10 Barrel Brewing, Barbarian Brewing, White Dog Brewing are all located downtown.

If wine is more your thing, there's Split Rail Winery, Telaya Winery, Coiled Wines, Potter Wines, City Center Wines, and Bodovino all nearby.

Or if you prefer cider, Meriwether Cider House is fantastic!

There's a million places we could recommend - just ask if you want more options!

Q: Where can I rent a car?

A: Car rental information can be found on the Travel page of our website. However, I recommend using the free shuttle service provided by The Grove Hotel. The airport is only 4 miles from the hotel. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, within walking distance of bars, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc.

Q: What is the weather supposed to be like?

A: Idaho weather changes by the minute - it's hard to pinpoint exactly what the weather will be. But typically, you can expect January to have highs in the mid-high 30s and lows in the low-mid 20s. We could get snow or rain or high winds.

This year (2021), our January was very mild and wet - highs in the high 40s/low 50s and lots of rain and rain/snow mix. The mornings have been bitter cold, with temps in the teens and 20s.

I'd recommend checking the weather the day before your trip for more accurate information.

Q: Who can I contact if I get lost or have an issue or question on the day of the wedding? I don't want to bother the bride or groom.

A: You can contact the parents of the bride and groom, the maid-of-honor, or the best man. We will have contact sheets at the hotel for your convenience, and there is also a copy in the Imagae Gallery here on the website, in case you need the list before your arrival.
