Neal and I met through mutual friends. His good friend, Jeremy, was dating my good friend Jessa. Jeremy thought Neal and I would make a good match, and he was right! We met on January 15, 2012. The four of us went out bowling to hang out and get to know each other. I remember when Neal walked in thinking how handsome he was. He told me later on that he thought I was beautiful when he walked in. Of course we had facebook stalked each other prior to meeting, but seeing each other in person was a different story. Hanging out the first time was really easy - we laughed and joked and I crushed him at bowling! After that night, we made a date for the following Friday.
Our first official date was on January 20, 2012 - although it may sound cheesy, I remember that night thinking that things just felt right with him. That I knew this was more than just an average date. We hung out and talked for hours. We've been together ever since. I think the one thing that both of us have always said about our relationship is that things just come so easy. It's easy to love him, and it's easy to make each other happy. When you love someone, you do everything you can to make them happy and encourage them.
I met Neal's son in July 2012. We waited until we had been dating for six months for me to meet him. I was so nervous when I met Noah, was he going to like me? I shouldn't have worried - we got along great and things have progressed from there. I grew to love him and he grew to love me.
Neal proposed on January 18, 2014 at Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Va. This was where Dirty Dancing was filmed! I had always wanted to visit and we took a day trip up there to check it out. While we were there exploring, Neal dropped to his knee and proposed to me (on the porch of Baby's cabin from the movie!) . I don't remember a lot of what he said - I was hyperventilating and speechless. It was a perfect day and a perfect proposal from the perfect man for me. |
