It didn't take long for us to know we were meant for one another. We met in Columbia, SC August 17, 2007 and started officially dating September 21, 2007, just 3 days before Rue's birthday.

Caitlin was just starting her sophomore year of college at the age of 19 at the University of South Carolina and Rue was just about to turn 22 working with his dad at their locksmith shop in Sumter, SC. We met in the most unexpected place at the most unexpected time in Columbia. Since the beginning of our relationship there was always something spontaneous, care-free and fun-loving about each of us that just seemed to work. From our very first date we had joked about our wedding and how it was meant to be. What we didn't know was that 8 years later would grow into a lifetime. Caitlin told Rue she loved him after just 3 months. Rue said it to Caitlin about a week later. He always wanted to be cautious, but, knew in his heart that he loved her long before than.

Caitlin graduated from USC in May of 2012 and her and Rue made their way up north to MA where Caitlin's family lived. They both got wonderful jobs and after 2 1/2 years of living with Caitlin's mom got their very own apartment. Although this was a big step, their next chapter was about to start. 

It was Memorial Day Weekend and Rue had a surprise getaway for Caitlin. The last time he had taken her away was 4 years prior for their 4 year anniversary to Savannah, GA. Caitlin had no idea what was in store for her! Caitlin's mom took them to the airport and when they had gotten there Caitlin was so surprised she didn't know what to say! Rue was surprising her by taking her to Buffalo, NY. Caitlin knew that there were only two reasons to go to Buffalo; wings or Niagra Falls. Rue was taking her to Niagra Falls because he knew Caitlin's favorite thing in the whole world is waterfalls (how cute). When they got to Buffalo there was a driver waiting for them with the name "LaRue Medlin". Caitlin still didn't know what to think! How awesome it was! Caitlin and Rue arrived at the Giacomo Hotel right near the Falls. It was a beautiful 5 star hotel with an Italian feel to it, which put Caitlin right at home. When we went to our room, it was just stunning! There was a fireplace, a spa bathroom, king size bed with the most gorgeous view of the falls. That first night they went to watch the sunset right in front of the huge fall. It was such a perfect night, Caitlin had an idea that he might propose that evening, but to her surprise, he did not. The next day Rue told Caitlin to dress up nice just because they were on vacation, so she did without any question. What a hot day it was and boy were the lines long! They took the trolley around and the first stop they made was the Cave of Winds. The line was insanely long and the sun was scorching! They finally made it down to the bottom and the view just blew them away! They were so close to the water that it was literally rushing over their feet and the mist was just soaking them! Rue had asked Caitlin if she was ready to go once her make-up had completely run and her hair was a mess. She was so excited to be their and in the falls that she thought that was the best part. Rue pulled Caitlin aside and asked if he could take some pictures of her in front of the falls. He told her to point to them and when she turned back around, he was on one knee with the ring in his hand!!!! He asked her to marry him and she said YES!!!! It was the most romantic, exciting, spontaneous proposal that could have ever happened. That was the greatest day of their new life together. The next chapter is unforeseen, but what is certain is that their love will last an eternity.
