| | For those of you who have not heard the story, it all started with the daring rescue of a red-eared slider. It was late morning on Sunday, March 29, 2015. We were headed to Folsom Lake to fish as we do most Sundays between February and August. As we were driving down a busy, two-lane road, Joel saw a turtle trying to cross in oncoming traffic. Instead of continuing on to the lake, he made a u-turn with the boat and headed back for the turtle. As we aporoached, he stopped in the middle of the road, put on the flashers and told me to go get the turtle. After a moment of confused hesitation, I rushed into traffic to grab the turtle. Ten or so annoyed drivers, two proud turtle rescuers and one u-turn later, we were on our way to the lake with a new friend. We set our turtle, Ted Shelly, free and set off to fish the beds along Folsom Lake. A couple of hours into our trip, I finally had a good bite and reeled in a nice four-pound fish. I guess that was the sign Joel was looking for that day. Just a short while later, we pulled up to a rocky ledge overlooking the water. Before I knew it, Joel was on one knee with a ring in his hand asking me to be his wife. | | From turtle rescues, fishing adventures and hunting trips to baseball games, family movie nights and lazy Sunday mornings, we wouldn't pick anyone else to share those moments with but each other (and Wyatt, of course). It has been a crazy ride, but despite all the wild ups and downs so far, we still make each other laugh and end each day with "I love you."
| | We are so excited to start the next chapter of our life together as husband and wife. Thank you for being a part of our special day and, more importantly, for being a part of our lives.
We look forward to celebrating in September with our closest family and friends.
