Leading up to the night Jason announced we were getting married we as a couple and indivually with friends and coworkers had discussed marriage on several occasions. Our friends, family and coworkers had seen something that either we did not or that we were trying to avoid.

It was a Saturday night we went to church and while there Jason went to confession and he and the priest spoke of things that got his mind going. He dropped me off at his house and went out with a couple guys from high school, he told me he didn't think he would be out past about 9:00. Ten thirty came and went and he was still out so I decided to go to bed. He called shortly after I had fallen asleep telling me he was on his way home.

When he got home he walked into the bedroom and announced "we are getting married, I just don't know when" my first thought was kill Derek for letting Jason drive home drunk....I even asked how much he had to drink. He told me and went on to tell me how everything was just falling into place and the final piece of the puzzle was the priest during confession.

I was happy and scared and a little weirded out but prayed and asked God what he thought of all this.....I cannot remember a night before then that I slept so peaceful. I woke up the next morning and when Jason was still talking about marriage I knew it was what I wanted.

We had been dating for about two years. In that time many people told me how great Jen and I are together. Then , one week at work, a buddy named Paul told me that Jen and I were made for each other. For some reason his words stuck and reminded me of what others said. On Saturday, later that week, we were at church and I was in the confessional. Well, I can't say all that was said there, but God worked through Fr Gigliotti that evening as we talked about Jennifer. I took it as a sign, and since God knows a LOT more than me, I thought I'd better go with it.

After dinner and a Guinness with a life-long friend, I returned home and informed her that we were getting married, at some point. She asked how much I had to drink  and I told her one beer. She said something about asking her. I explained that that was old fashioned and, besides, this was a sign from God. Anyway, my dad proposed along the same lines and they were together for the rest of their lives.
