We had already been planning our Disney World vacation in 2018 for some time when I finally made the decision that I was going to propose. After that I spent a couple of months thinking about how I wanted to go about doing it and which day I was going to do it on. I somehow managed to keep the whole thing secret for the several months leading up to the trip despite so many people knowing my plans.

Fast forward to the vacation, the night before I intend to propose we're at EPCOT at Walt Disney World and we get in line for Test Track shortly before the park closes and this is when I start thinking about changing my plans. sometime during the ride, probably towards the end, Perry's phone slipped out of his pocket and the next group got in before he could really check the car. The photo on Test Track had been awkward so I had rushed to try and get it linked to my Disney account. The park was officially closed by this time so we made our way to the exit and decided to stop by Customer Service, it was impossible that they'd have the phone by then but they were able to give us information about the Central Lost & Found. Perry was very upset and pretty much the only reason he was able to get to sleep is because he had happened to buy some tea earlier in the trip and had a relaxing cup.

At this point I'm starting to think that I should maybe push back the proposal by a couple of days but ultimately decide it would be better to still do it when I originally intended as it could help him feel better about the situation. I knew right where I wanted to do it and about what time. I selected this location so we could have one of Disney's Photopass photographers capture the big moment for us. As we came up to the photographer I whispered that I was going to propose so we started with the standard photos and then I pulled the ring box out of my backpack and held it behind my back while I stood back in position for the photos. That's when I did it, Perry was literally speechless, he didn't actually verbally say "Yes," but I knew, there was no doubt in my mind. A few minutes later, after the surprise had worn off, Perry just wanted to tell everyone, BUT HE HAD NO PHONE! It had been lost the night before and he was frustrated because he just wanted to message everyone. It was such a special day for both of us and I think him losing his phone made it that much better in my opinion, especially since his phone had been found and we were able to pick it up from the Central Lost & Found which was located between the park and where we were headed for dinner.
