Welcome

When we get married in September, we will have been dating for 6 1/2 years.  We attended graduate school together at the University of Nevada, Reno. In May of 2007, we were both attending our annual conference for Behavior Anaylsis and started getting to know each other there. When we returned to Reno, one of our first dates was a backpacking trip out at Skunk Harbor in Lake Tahoe. We learned then that we share so many interests and values. We have been dating ever since :)

it was a perfect proposal. We returned from our holiday travels on New Year's Eve, 2012.  The next day, we planned to go snowshoeing, one of our favorite adventures!  We invited several friends to join us.  Interestingly, none decided to come. We packed snacks and headed out for our snowshoe adventure at Galena, a park with hiking trails in South Reno. We hiked for a few miles and then searched for a spot with beautiful views to sit and relax for a bit.  Donny choose a perfect spot with views overlooking the city and snow covered mountains around us. As we sat there, Donny began asking me what I would like it to be like when he proposed. I told him that a day like this day would be perfect, and a spot like this one would be perfect. As I was speaking, Donny got down on his knee in the snow and asked if I would marry him. He held the most gorgeous ring in his hand. His hands were shakiing and that's about the point when I started crying!  Clearly, I said, "yes"!  After putting the ring on my frozen finger (it was pretty cold that day), he told me the story behind the ring. He and his mom had gone over the holidays to have the diamond from his great grandmother's wedding ring set in a ring for me.  Donny traveled with the ring in his carry on during our plane ride back to Reno, nervous that I would end up seeing it in his bag.  Words cannot express how moved I am to have a ring with a diamond that has been in his family for decades. I called my family and Donny's family from the top of the mountain to share the news.  It was also wonderful that Donny and I had dinner plans with close friends that evening and were able to share the news, celebrate and toast with good wine . The day was perfect and I couldn't be happier about marrying my best friend.

We will spend two weeks in Hawaii: one week in Kauai and one week on the Big Island. We will be surronded by our family and some of our closet friends.  These two weeks will be about adventure and appreciation for one another; it will be about living in the moment.
