 | Our story began a year ago in the Friends Café, which is located inside of the PNC Tower in Troy. One day I went down to the café to grab lunch to take back up to the T-Systems office. As I tried to pay for my lunch it occurred to me that I had left my purse upstairs at my desk. Since I’m a ‘regular’, the owner of the café told me not to worry and she could float me until the following day.
The next day, I went back to the café to grab lunch and pay for my two lunches, but was informed that someone else had already paid for one of them. I was very surprised and requested to know who this individual was! The owner stated that ‘he’ didn’t want to be named and hoped that I would pay the good deed forward to someone else. At that moment my faith in humanity had been restored and I went about my day. I wasn’t suspicious until a week or so later when I tried to buy my lunch and, again, had been informed that it was already paid for by the same person who had purchased my first lunch. Now I was going crazy with curiosity! It wasn’t for another month that Scott finally introduced himself to me. I remember blushing like crazy and practically running out of the café after we shook hands. J
Across the next 4 months, every so often he would ask the owner of the café if she had seen me and whether she knew anything about my personal situation (i.e. marital status, etc). To this day, I still don’t know what she shared with him, but I do know that she started selling him to me hard and fast! She was doing her best to play matchmaker, for sure! I stated that I wasn’t interested, but was very flattered. Eventually he re-introduced himself to me in the café and finally asked me to let him know if I might be interested in meeting him for drinks. I took his business card from him and decided not to accept his date request for another 2 months (I was playing hard to get!). |
