 | | Curtis and I met in the summer over three and a half years ago, but our story starts a year before that when I first saw him. He started beauty school two days before I finished. I noticed the hot new guy covered in tattoos and admired how friendly and humorous he appeared. When I heard he already had a girlfriend, I quickly tossed aside any thoughts of having a boyfriend like him someday. So it was a year later I met him at a bar while he was out celebrating his beauty school graduation. He introduced himself and complimented my adorable platinum curls. After meeting his newly ex-girlfriend and joining their group, I didn't think anything else about him . I was not one to step on any toes. I had to run in to him a third time, at a car show about a month later, before fate would have her way with us. He some how talked me into singing karaoke with him, and before I had a chance to be truly humiliated, Curtis proved that he could sing and dance with me at the same time and not miss a beat. I think he liked me because I didn't break my ankle while being thrown about. Not wanting to rush into anything, I played it cool and tried not to laugh when an aquaintence of Curtis's offered his home for us to be married at. (I wasn't even dating him yet)
Curtis called me every day after that, and despite weak protests that neither of us wanted to be in a relationship right then, we found a friendship that has only grown stronger. | | We are hoping to have our ceremony at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo. Combining our mutual love of movies and vintage made this site ideal. Stay tuned, they have not held many weddings here, and we are still working out the logistics. | | Our reception will be held at the Monday Club, only a few blocks down the street from the theater. We will have a cocktail hour followed by lunch catered by Alphy's Broiler. You can look forward to a variety of sliders and Curtis's favorite coleslaw, among a few other sides.
In case you can't wait to buy a new dress or tie, we are asking everyone to wear black, white, grey, and cream cocktail attire. Hats are encouraged but not required. For those of you rebels who hate to conform, we would love to have you there in something rather than not at all (or nothing at all).
Our afternoon will include croquet, bands, dancing, and any other wedding traditions we find that are entertaining or meaningful. We have our venue as late as ten and want to spend as much time with you all as possible.
We are inviting more of our local friends to join the reception in the middle of the afternoon, when we can move some tables out for dancing. We are limited on space and wanted to be sure to provide a meal for our family and out of town guests. We didn't want this to keep us from sharing our meaningful day with as many of our friends as possible. Its important to us to have you there! | | Both venues for our wedding day are located on Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo, within a few minutes drive of one another. (You could walk it if you like, we might walk to the reception) There are several hotels located on Monterey St as well, all different price ranges, conveniently located in walking distance from the Monday Club.
San Luis Obispo is home to the Madonna Inn if you have been waiting for a chance to stay there, book your room ASAP. It is fun, and extremely comfortable. They have some suites that can accomodate more than 8 people.
We are surrounded by beautiful mountains with many hiking trails that should not be missed. If hiking is not your thing, I would suggest wine tasting in Paso or Edna Valley, or just enjoying downtown SLO. | | We are so excited to be getting married! We have both been very blessed with lots of amazing friends and family and we can't wait to share our joy with you! |
