Rarely is "the girl next door" actually living anywhere remotely close to you. In this case its more like the "around the way girl" since Jenn lived a short three minute jaunt from my door to hers. We had lived in the same neighborhood for over ten years and somehow never managed to bump into one another.
Not entirely true. I can vividly recall seeing a young Jennifer Roussell at a punk show we were both at on New Year's Eve about ten years ago. I thought she was totally cute but totally "jail-bait" at the time. Her short hair dyed green at the time definitely made her stand out from the crowd.
Fast-forward several years and I begin to see the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes upon at the clubs in downtown San Jose. A hearty crush was nurtured from afar for nearly two years until one day while coming home from work I spotted Jenn in front of her house around the corner from my own and I felt an immediate sense of destiny and purpose. I mustered the courage to begin speaking to this goddess and before long we graduated from just simply neighbors to now friends!!!
We took things very slowly, but as time went on we became romantically entwined and exclusive to one another. After nearly three years together, I proposed on bended-knee inside the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland (Jenn's favorite ride). As I slid the ring on her finger she shouted, "I DO! I DOOO!!!" Let's hope she says that on 8/8/08, huh?
