This is how it all began:
It was May 28, 2007, one of my best friends Garrett, and his wife Elizabeth, took it upon themselves to become match-makers. They set up a blind date for me to meet a co-worker of Elizabeth’s. We planned to cook on the grill and hang out at their house. I tried every trick in the book to back out because blind dates really scared me and typically turned out disastrous… Garrett was persistent though, calling me non-stop trying to make sure I was still going to show up. He described her as a cute, petite, athletic, curly-haired girl that was wearing a shirt with the number 23 on it. I was a huge fan of Michael Jordan so the number 23 meant a lot to me. Plus, I am a sucker for curly hair. Garrett had won. He talked me into it, I decided that I better go thru with the date just to see what this girl was like… Obviously, their match making skills were far better than I had imagined. She was beautiful. Her auburn eyes and perfect smile grabbed my full attention. I was so nervous from the first moment I saw her that I could not figure out the right things to say. In a desperation move, I resorted to the strategy of using sympathy to keep her attention. I had scratched my eye earlier in the week so my eye was red and swollen. The “something in my eye and it really hurts” trick worked wonders. She tried so hard to act like she cared and attempted to comfort me. Love at first sight does not count for that night because I could not physically see her. I consider it love at first touch! As the night drew to an end, I had the opportunity to hold her hand and tell her how nice it was to have met her. I was too nervous to ask for her number and extremely too scared to ask for a hug. I wanted to so bad and I will never forget the butterflies I had at that moment. She probably thought I was weird for holding her hand for so long but I didn’t want that moment, that feeling, to end. I replay it over and over in my head… Elizabeth continued her duty as professional match maker and made sure that Jill got my cell phone number the next day at work. The flirty text messages began and I became completely infatuated with Jill. The relationship began to escalade after a baby shower for none other than Garrett and Elizabeth. It is amazing how hard friends work to make sure a relationship gets started and lasts. I will never be able to thank them enough… I have always heard that time flies when you are having fun. It couldn’t be so true. Almost a year and a half passed before I decided it was “time”. On November 1, 2008, after a post Halloween party, I couldn’t pass up a golden opportunity. Dressed as Richard Simmons, with an afro and tight shorts on, I got down on one knee, prayed silently, and asked Jill if she would spend the rest of her life with me. She was shocked, don’t know if it was the ring or how I looked, but she said “yes”. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. I knew she was the one for me…. I can honestly say that I have met my match, my love, my best friend. On May 28, 2009, I will hold the hand of my cute, curly haired girl and say “I do”.
We are planning on having a small ceremony at the Aventura Spa Palace on May 28, 2009 at 6 pm.
We would like to invite all family and friends to attend our wedding and vacation with us.
