Amber Dukes & John Lowery

Our Story

The first time we met. How does one describe the women of his dreams? I will leave that to you. I know that the first time we saw each other it was different, we both felt something there. It was our first date, a blind date, set up by friends. We met at Chili's, because neither one of us was extremly hungry and I was supposed to go to my sister's for diner. We talked for several hours letting the time pass as if it was nothing. After a while, I realized I was still supposed to go to my sister's and I asked Amber if she wanted to join me. I could tell she was very uneasy about meeting a bunch of new people. Nevertheless, she finally gave in and we went. We had a great evening with family. After a while, we ended up going our separate ways and said we would talk to each other the next day. That did not happen; we stayed on the phone all night long talking even more.

However, we did set a date to meet and go see a movie the next night. We saw "My Best Friend’s Girl" at Hollywood theaters in Longview. What a wonderful movie to take up on our second date. The night was not over yet though, we were so infatuated with being around each other we drove around and talked some more before we let each other go home around 2am that morning. There was the first Kiss. It was amazing.

Now, we move to thanksgiving and Christmas. It was a hard two holidays for me. Having to meet one of the biggest families in the world is not the easiest thing to do, but they came around and kind of liked me.

On April 15 2009, Amber, her friend Tiffany, Tiffany's boyfriend, and I went to Matsu to eat out as couples. We talked and had a lovely evening, except, when the fortune cookie's came. Amber had a hard time opening hers; and at some point a ring fell out of the cookie, and I asked her to marry me. She said "Yes", even though she looked more scared then anything. I did get happy tears out of her later when she finally realized what had happened.

After visiting her parent's for the first time in May, FUN FUN is all I can say. I am only kidding, I love her parents they are great. They are some of the most wonderful people I have met in my life. We set the date to be married on April 10, 2010. Unsure on the location yet; that will probably be up to Amber.

We have decided to buy a house together so we can focus on the wedding more instead of buying a house and wedding at the same time. We are happy together and cannot wait to celebrate the joining of our hearts and souls on April 10, 2010.
