Jessica Campbell & Jonathan Backus
Our Story
Jonathan and I met at his best friend's wedding. Nick and Christine were getting married and my brother needed a date since Christen was out of town that weekend. Jonathan and I had already been seeing each other at a number of different places & kind of remembered each other in passing. We also knew of each other because of sharing the same groups of friends. Also he knew my brother and I knew his sister years before we ever met. Nevertheless everytime I would go somewhere I would see him, and I began to think why do I keep running into this guy everywhere? Before long everytime we would see each other it was a familiar feeling and we both seemed to say hello and hug as if we had known each other for years. It seemed fate was dealing its hand in our lives and we really had no way of escaping it. My brother called to see if I had plans for the weekend, and right then I knew he wanted me to go to the wedding with him. Of course I knew Jonathan was in it because him and Nick were good buddies. So without hesitation and almost before he could finish asking me I said YES I'll go! My brother kinda looked at me weird and I know he was thinking "Did she know I was gonna ask her or something"? I never told him until later I was plotting to try to formally meet Jonathan. We attending the Wedding and the reception as well. I started to get nervous because I was unsure if Jonathan would even be interested in me. It did help that my brother and him had some catching up to do, so that was my in. It took me half the night to work up the courage to walk over and say hello! I told him he looked very nice and he looked me up and down as if to say with his gesture he liked my dress and then he said "You look better!" We ended up dancing to the last song and our first dance is actually caught on tape on Nick and Christine's Wedding Video. What a moment to look back on, you can see the nervousness its hilarious. We talked all night until about 5 in the morning and the rest is history.
Our Wedding
Our Wedding will take place on Sunday September 20th 2009 at 5pm at the Yorktown Waterfront. Jonathan is building a mini-sized dock for us to stand on during the ceremony. Our Wedding Theme is "Tying the Knot". Everything is nautical. From our sperry wedding shoes to the oyster roast, everything about this day describes our layed back nature and love for the water. He is my Capt and I his First Mate. We can't wait to Celebrate with everyone and we appreciate all the support and help in planning this special day.
Our Reception
Our Reception will take place just a stones throw from the Ceremony. Walk down the cobblestone path to the Freight Shed and the party begins. To keep with the nautical theme and our tastebuds we chose our favorites. The oyster roast will consist of oysters, clams, shrimp, bacon wrapped scallops, corn on the cob, and red parsley potatoes. Don't worry we will have plenty of crackers and a variety of hot sauces and metled butter of course. And for the non-seafood lovers we will also have chicken. I can't wait!! Hope to see you all there.
Travel Arrangements
We leave for our honeymoon Tuesday and fly to the Dominican Republic. The resort we will be staying at is in Punta Cana. It is beautiful and we can't wait to have our toes in the sands. We plan to mostly relax and enjoy each other, but our outdoorsy adventerous nature won't let us sit still to long. We will do some golfing and of course off shore fishing...I gotto catch a dolphin if its the last thing I do. We thank you so much for contributing to our honeymoon. Because of you all we know it will be a dream come true.
