Thank you for coming to our wedding website. Jennifer will tell our story:
"In August 2008, I went home to see my parents. One day as my mother and I were lying on the beach, she looked at me with tears in her eyes and said "I just don't understand why you can't find someone that will be able to take care of you instead of you always having to take care of them. You have to stop rescuing men or settling for something that might just be tolerable." I had a few relationships that took away from me instead of improving me. Anyway, I say all this because at that moment, with my mother's tearful heartfelt remark, I changed. I didn't know it then, but I see it now.
My friends Melissa and Terry 'kidnapped' me to Vegas. This is when I stumbled on Roger. One morning in the pool of a Vegas hotel, a man stared at me. I left the pool area and returned only to find him still staring. So I sat down in front of him and the smalltalk began. Then my friends joined us and we had fun for a couple hours, talking and laughing. The entire time though, I felt like this man was truly listening to every word I said. His eyes followed me with interest and I truly felt comfortable. I gave him my number, since we had to part ways for the afternoon. He promised we would hang out on the Strip that night.
My friends and I hung out that evening at several casinos and finally I saw him again. He remembered that earlier in the day I had mentioned that I had never seen the light/water show at the Bellagio any of the times I had been to Vegas. We walked to the Bellagio and watched the short show. This is the first thing he did for me! (See, it isn't hard to please me... just had to listen.) Well, we hung out at the hotel hottub for hours and talked....and any of you that know me can imagine how that conversation went -- yup, I spilled my entire life story!! He was holding something back though. There was something he was not telling me. Well I thought I would never see him again and in fact told him. "Call me next time you're in Vegas".
Several days later, he called. He was missing me. Long story short, he was separating from his wife and although we both were excited about each other, he had to finish that first. He reassured me and said we would talk again soon. Our relationship was whirlwind fast after that moment. I was 3 hours away and the distance seemed impossible for both of us. I don't think I have ever been that impatient since I was 12 years old about anything!!! A few short weeks later, he moved to where I was currently living. Any little gesture I could have ever wanted someone to do for me he did. He was amazing. I have never felt so spoiled, so loved, so cherished in my life.
Every day has been better than the one before. We laugh alot. We appreciate life and love -- and consider ourselves so lucky to be able to share it with the other. He had several relationships in his past that made him appreciate ours even more. He asked me to marry him in January, overlooking the Los Angeles skyline at the Observatory. We didn't think either of us would do this again, but both of us are excited about the future." |
