Jennie and Shane met in October of 2006 when Shane began attending Jennie's church. Shane noticed how beautiful Jennie looked while singing on stage. Even though he was just getting used to the idea of being single again, he felt that he had no choice but to ask Jennie out.


Jennie wasn't too thrilled about the idea, either. She was extremely busy with work and school, and didn't know if she could handle the additional stress of a boyfriend. Reluctantly, she agreed to go on a date with Shane.


Jennie kept trying to subtlely (and sometimes not-so-subtlely) push Shane away - but Shane didn't take the hint. The following January, they shared their first kiss and have been inseparable since.


Right after Christmas 2008, Jennie and Shane took a trip to Disneyland, and Shane popped the question during a private boat ride on the Storybook Canal. Jennie knew it was coming, but that didn't stop her from enjoying the moment any less.


Jennie is a graduate student at Arizona State University (where she previously received her Bachelor's degree) and is on her way to becoming a registered dietitian. She's a self-described girly girl and loves clothes shopping (she can always find the best deals) and Jane Austen novels. She works part-time at Remuda Ranch, an around-the-clock treatment center for girls and young women with eating disorders. She is also a great singer and has been on the praise and worship team at her church for many years. Jennie has one older brother (who is three months older than Shane) and a two-year-old niece.


Shane works from home as a freelance writer and editor. He writes for Advertising Specialty Institute, a series of promotional product-based magazines, and edits online course lessons for Rio Salado College. He has an older brother and sister, both of whom live in the Valley, and four nephews ranging from ages 8-17. Shane enjoys writing, bowling, movies, and talking sports and current events. His dream job is to become a sportswriter or political columnist for a major publication. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in 2004, where he majored in political science and minored in journalism.

We have so much that we'd like to do while we're in the UK. Jennie wants to see some of the beautiful castles and tour the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Shane wants to see Stonehenge and catch a Premier League soccer game. Both of us want to tour Piccadilly Circus. This will be Jennie's second trip to the UK, and for Shane, this will be his first trip outside North America.
