Our Story

How we first met

A mutual friend introduced us and we became fast friends. Even though we outwardly admitted we were just friends we both knew deep down that something was different. At the time we were both in serious relationships that we thought could have gone to the next level. But in the end both of our relationships fizzled out around the same time.

Since we were both newly single we finally gave in and stopped fighting what we knew was meant to be. On May 13th, 2008 (a Friday noless), we decided to make it official that we were now a couple. To make a long story short she decided to make the move from Ohio, where she was born and had spent most of her life, and come to Louisville.

With help from friends and family she was able to find a good paying job and a house here in Louisville. This was all preparation for one of the happiest days of our lives thus far. May 15th, 2009. One year "and two days" from the time we got together.

The day I proposed. May 15th, 2009.

She had to work on our anniversary, so instead we celebrated it two days later, on the 15th. I told her I wanted to plan everything out, which she had no problem with. I took her out to lunch at a wonderful Italian restaurant, which was timed just right and we had the whole place to ourselves. Then we got tickets for a movie we had been wanting to see, then did some walking around and killing time until it started. On the way home she knew I was distracted, but thought it was from the movie, not what was really on my mind. When we got home I went to the back room and pulled out the ring from its hiding place, right next to where she had been laying her head the last two night, never knowing her engagement ring was so close. When I came out into the living room where she was I got her full attention. Leaning down to kiss her I told her how much I had enjoyed the day, "The first of many." I hoped. When I got down on one knee she couldn't hold back the tears, almost saying yes before I could even ask. I proposed and she said yes, throwing her arms around me, nearly knocking me to the floor. We celebrated with dinner nearby after telling all the families the news.

Now the floodgates are open. Planning and preparing for the wedding. And our futures together.

Our Wedding

All little girls have dreamed of the fairytale wedding at some time or another. My beloved is no exception. As she grew older she never let go of that dream, so we decided to get married in a castle. After looking at different castles around the country, some as far away as the northern east coast, we finally found the perfect place. Ravenwood Castle. Set in the hills of southern Ohio Hocking Hills is the perfect spot to get away and create a fantasy world of your own. That's exactly what the owners of Ravenwood Castle did. When you pull up to the castle you get the feeling your stepping into a fairytale of your own. That's exactly what we intend to do! Renting out the castle, all of its rooms, the medieval AND fairytale cottages surrounding it, we are creating our very own fantasy wedding.

Our Reception

Due to the distance from everyone, as well as a constraint on the number of guests we are allowed to have at the castle, not everyone we know will be able to join us that day. To make sure everyone gets to join in on the celebration we plan to have two separate receptions after we return from the honeymoon. One will be in Ohio, the time and location of which has yet to be decided. We will also have one in Kentucky. This one has already been decided on and has been booked in advance. It will be June 26th, exactly three weeks after the wedding. It will be held at The Farnsley- Moremen House.

All are welcome to either or both receptions.

Travel Arrangements

For those who are joining us at the ceremony we will be getting in touch to work out travel details.

For those that will be joining us at the receptions, the Louisville reception will be at the Farnsley Moreman House, the website http://www.riverside-landing.org/visit.asp gives directions on how to get there.
