Brandi Usher & Brian Wright
Our Story
The moment of attraction did not come in a standard way that most couples experience. We were both at a point in our lives where we searching for love. We had experienced past relationships that we were settling for and knew that there was more to love then just being with someone that was temporarily filling those voids. Neither of us can explain why we were compelled to venture into online dating, nor did we ever expect to become an eHarmony success story. EHarmony’s scientific approach differentiates from other relationship websites by matching people based on compatibility alone. We were required to partake in a lengthy questionnaire to identify our core characteristics, beliefs, values, emotional health and skills. I can remember when I read Brian's profile and said to myself, "finally, they got it right". We went through a series of guided communication until we could actually email direct. We looked forward to reading each other's emails and decided to exchange phone numbers.
The first conversation lasted 8 hours, and the days following would last just as long. We couldn't say goodbye and this strong emotional connection developed. We were falling in love without even meeting and it felt natural. We didn't care about the miles that separated us with him being in Corpus Christi and me in Houston, we just couldn't wait to make our relationship a reality. After a week of being sleep deprived from our lengthy and daily phone calls, Brian drove to Houston and we made plans to spend the weekend together on September 11, 2009. When he walked into my front door, there was a moment of timidity, but the minute he put his arms around me, I knew he was "the one".
We have had to endeavor some distressful situations that most couples would have walked away from. We know in our hearts, that God brought us together. We were made for each other and both of our mother's prayers have been answered. The relationship that he has developed with my son, Chase (who will turn 18 in February) and daughter, Chelsi (who turns 15 in March) was effortless and they maintain a bond that is strong. I am so honored to have a man in their lives that not only accepts them as his own, but is also proud to be the most influential male figure that they now have.
He purposed to me at his Mother's house on December 12th, 2010 and after receiving an incredible career opportunity in Houston, he now lives here in The Woodlands with us. We are looking forward to spending our lives together and thank God that we found each other at last. Neither one of us had ever been truly in love, and now we can say that we are not only each other's first love, but the last love as well.
