The story of us begins on the information super highway. Like many couples today, we met online. We talked for a few times online and we were both interested. And even though Alia "accidentally" gave me the wrong phone number to call her, we did end up talking and meeting each other in New Braunfels. We first met each other on February 21st, 2007 at the Watering Hole in N.B. She knew kind of what I looked like from my profile pic online, however, the only thing she could remember that night on her way down to N.B. about my looks was my facial hair. And, unfortunately for her, every guy in the bar that night had facial hair. So, she spent the first few minutes looking at all of these guys with facial hair, and them giving her dirty-old-man looks too. Finally, she found me and we talked for hours that night. About a week later we had our first "official" date at the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Every moment has been wonderful since. So much so that the weekend of Valentines day 2009, I decided to propose.......

I wanted to do something unique to us for my proposal. I did not want to do the typical ring in the champagne glass, the proposal on the scoreboard at a sporting event, etc. So, to start off, Alia and I play/played an online game called World of Warcraft. In this game, you create your character, looks, clothing, everything. She had her character, I had mine (this will come into play later on). Alia was out with her mom and sister that evening, so I was making dinner for us. When she got home, I had 3 envelopes on the table. One marked "past," one said "present," and the last one said "future." In the one marked "past," I had put a dollar bill in it. This was the same dollar I found on the ground outside of the bar the first night we met before she got there. On the dollar bill someone had written "keep this for luck." I had kept it in my wallet since that night. Next, the envelope that said "present" just had a copy of our current water bill. Not romantic, more of a joke type of thing. Last, the envelope marked "future" had a note that told her to go her computer. Now back to the video game.....during the day I had an in-game friend of mine make a wedding dress for Alia's character and a tux for mine. I logged into the game and our characters side-by-side in the dress and tux and took a screen shot of it. When Alia walked into the computer room, I had that screen shot on my computer and I told her that is what our future holds for us. I had her character pulled up on her computer and I told her to look at what her character was wearing. Alia was looking at all of her character's items when she saw that her character was wearing an engagement ring. Alia, in her confused state, turned around and I was waiting on one knee and asked her to marry me. Needless to say she said yes through all of the tears and so here we are.
Our wedding is scheduled for October 23rd, 2010 at 6 pm. It will be held at Castle Avalon in New Braunfels. The ceremony will be held outside in their garden area. The reception will take place after in the ballroom.
The reception will be in the ballroom of Castle Avalon around 6:45 pm or so. Bill Miller's is catering and our cakes will be done by Cake, Please! based in Austin. We expect the reception to go up until around 10 pm. So come on out and enjoy the food, drinks, dancing and company.
We look forward to seeing all of our family and friends on the happiest day for both of us. We also would like to thank all of our family and friends for always being there for us, through all of the good times and bad.
