Megan and Chris
Megan & Chris as Lucy & Desi

Our Story

Chris and Megan traveled many of the same paths for a number of years before they finally met. From an interrupted first dance at a Renaissance Festival to a mutual double-take as a set of elevator doors closed at work, it seemed fate was trying to get these two people together. At long last, they finally became friends, and then so much more. After nearly 6 years of being together, they've finally decided to make things official and combine their two families.

Life just couldn't get much sweeter. :)

Our Wedding

We've chosen Loose Mansion, in the center of Kansas City, as the site of our ceremony and reception. Loose Mansion is one of Kansas City's historic treasures and is listed on the National Historic Register. It's reputed to still be the home of two of its former owners, who descend the grand staircase at midnight to dance away the wee hours. Never fear...these are friendly spirits!

The ceremony will begin at 4pm on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Please arrive about 20-30 minutes early so that you are able to do a bit of exploring before finding a seat in the Grand Salon.

Attire should be whatever you are most comfortable in - the wedding party will of course be dressed to the nines, but we want most of all for each person to feel at ease as they help us celebrate!

Our Reception

Following the ceremony, you will be directed to the lower level of the mansion to enjoy music, cocktails and appetizers as we wrap up our photos and the Loose Mansion staff prepares the main floor for dinner.

Within about an hour, dinner should be ready, and everyone can return to the main floor for an Italian buffet. We intend to have at least one children's table or area set up with crayons and a white paper table covering, so that the little ones can chatter with others of similar size. :)

Following dinner, some tables will be removed, allowing room for the dancing to begin!

Unlike traditional wedding receptions, we won't be tossing the bouquet or removing/tossing a garter. Our intent instead is simply to enjoy the evening in the company of family and friends. Instead of a wedding cake, we'll have tiers of cupcakes, so if you need to take your leave early, please do take a cupcake with you!

A fun element of our reception will be a photobooth. We'll have the photobooth available for about 4 hours, with unlimited photos allowed. We'd like everyone to have a photo session at least once, and to paste one of their photo strips, along with a comment, into our guestbook. If you'd like to play with the photobooth several times, please do so!

During the entire event, we and the Loose Mansion staff encourage you to explore the mansion. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions you might have along the way. Above all, enjoy yourself!

Another fun item to note: the food and liquor selections have been made based on family heritage. See if you can guess why each beer or wine was chosen. No prizes for the winners, other than another glass of wine, perhaps!

We expect the reception to wrap up by 10pm. It is, after all, a school night. ;)

Travel Arrangements

If you will be coming in from out of town, please let Megan know. We do have a couple of out of town guests staying at the Embassy Suites near the Country Club Plaza, but no special rates have been secured, as we did not expect to have enough out of town guests that would qualify us for a lower rate. There are loads of hotels throughout the area, though, and Megan would love to help you find something that meets your needs.

If you will be in town the night before the wedding, we anticipate we'll have a gathering at our house in Raymore, where we can grill out, sit under the stars (or inside in the A/C if it's hot), and just relax and enjoy each others' company. We'd love to have you join us.

A Special Message From Us

Thank you so much for visiting our site! With this being an event that combines two families and two households into one, we'd like to turn our honeymoon into an event that brings all members of the family together. All five of us - Megan, Chris, Brenna, Selina and Connor - will head to Branson, MO, to spend a week relaxing and playing together. In lieu of the traditional wedding registry filled with requests for strainers and BBQ grills, we thought those wishing to give something more personal might like the option to help us make our first full-family vacation something special. :)

We're so grateful to you for being a part of our lives, and wish you the very best.

Most sincerely,
Megan and Chris
