We have been together in love since January 12th 2008 thanks to an incoherent e-mail about the tv show Gilmore Girls sent from me to Emily on Match.com. Little did I know she had just gone through 8 bad dates on the dating service and was just about to give up until she received my quirky e-mail that made me seem very different from other guys' on Match.com. It turns out I was her lucky #9!
In the past 3 years we've had many adventures both big and MINI, but one of the date's that stood out the most for us was our first trip to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas. She had told me that she loves exotic animals (especially giraffes) and had always wanted to visit Africa. But like me, she has a fear of malaria, being eaten alive in our sleep, political uprisings, genocide, HIV, disease carrying monkeys, hippos that aren't as friendly as they look and all of the other many things that can kill you in Africa. So Fossil Rim is much more our style when it comes to safaris. It's more of a Texas Safari.
In 2009 we were introduced to a place most people have never been to or heard of at our favorite place...The Lodge and the Foothill Safari Camp at Fossil Rim. We fell even more in love with the Wildlife Center and decided that this would be a very fun and unique place to get married at one day.
On a random Tuesday night in November of 2010 I surprised Emily with an engagement ring on the balcony of my radio station in the rain under the canopy of a very special illuminated yellow umbrella. The yellow umbrella is a symbol of light and happiness keeping us safe and dry whenever there are dark days. Plus, it's also nod to our favorite television show How I Met Your Mother which we've watched since our first very first year together.
Thanks to the help from a few friends, our official wedding date is... NINE-24-11. |
