Wedding Location: Wren Chapel
Time & Day: 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 3rd
Directions: Directions to William and Mary Wren Chapel
The College of William and Mary is located in Williamsburg, Virginia. The campus is 150 miles south of Washington, D.C., midway between Richmond and Norfolk on I-64. From I-64, take Exit 238, heading toward Williamsburg. At the second set of traffic lights (Route 132), turn right. Turn right again at the next set of lights (Route 60 Bypass). Follow Bypass Road to where it ends and intersects with Richmond Road. Turn left onto Richmond Road. At the third set of lights, you will see the College's Alumni Center and Walter F. Zable Stadium on your right and the Williamsburg Hospitality House on your left. Proceed three-tenths of a mile past the light. The Sir Christopher Wren Building, in which the Wren Chapel is located, will be on your right, in the triangular College Yard formed by the junction of Richmond and Jamestown Roads.
There are three airports convenient to Williamsburg:
Richmond International Airport (RIC)
Norfolk International Airport (ORF)
Newport News/Williamsburg Airport (PHF)
Richmond and Norfolk are each about an hour from the College by car; Newport News is about forty minutes. There is a tunnel between Norfolk and Williamsburg which can sometimes cause traffic delays. All airports have shuttle service to Williamsburg and the College. Amtrak train service is available to Williamsburg from New York or Washington, D.C.
If you are traveling from Washington, D.C. by car, allow three hours.
Alternate Directions (Approaching from the East)
From I-64, take Exit 242A to Route 199-West. At the fourth* traffic light on 199-West (about five miles from the exit off I-64), turn right onto Jamestown Road. The Wren Building will be on your left about 1.6 miles down Jamestown Road.
*Do not turn at the second (Henry Street) traffic light on 199-W, even though there is a sign for William and Mary at that junction.
Parking
Parking spaces are frequently at a premium on the William and Mary campus, and the College cannot guarantee parking for cars of the wedding party or guests. Outside of working hours (after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturday and Sunday), we recommend the Facilities Management parking lot behind the Campus Center. (Access to this lot is off South Boundary Street, via Grigsby Drive.) Other parking may be available in the Colonial Williamsburg pay lot in the first block of Francis Street. On-street parking is sometimes available on Richmond Road, adjacent to the campus.
On the day of the wedding, a few parking spaces will be reserved for our use in Ewell Circle on Jamestown Road adjacent to Jefferson Hall. Please understand, however, that the College does not have weekend staff to enforce these parking reservations, and you may find a reserved space already occupied.
Driving cars, trucks, and vans is strictly prohibited on brick sidewalks and College grounds. Exceptions to this policy will be limited in nature and must be approved in advance by the building director.
