The Beginning
It was about the end of June 2006, when this handsome man walked into my life. We were both hired 2 weeks from each other, at Musco Family Olive Company. I had worked in the office, while Kelly worked in the field, outdoors. He came in to the office with one of his coworkers and looked at me and said I know you from somewhere. I immediately turned bright red, I just felt the blood rush into my face, and said, Oh you do? Well your face looks familiar too. Little did we know, we had gone to West High school together, Kelly one year above me. Immediately we became friends, and the fireworks went off around 2 years later.
As any new couple we had our ups and downs, but through all of the hardships, we both encountered and overcame the obsticals. Now we are the best of friends, and have created an amazing life for ourselves. We have amazing friends and family who love us dearly. I consider myself the luckiest girl alive! I found a life long partner who will be by my side through thick and thin.
Our love for each other has grown dramatically over the 3 years we have been dating. I could not see my life without him. He loves me and my daughter to no extent. |
The Engagement!
Oh, you want to hear the details about how he romantically proposed to his future bride?
Well, it began on my birthday, December 18, 2010, when he popped the question, I felt like I had been waiting for an eternity. He had originally planned to take me to Mendocino, Ca when weather stomped through his plans. He did not let that stop him. We woke up fairly early, and my parents came to pick up Taya from us. Sneaky little guys. Kelly suggested we use the enormous bath tub we have. He prepared the tub with bubbles, (okay, I did.. if any of you know me, I am impatient), but to keep it romantic, Kelly filled the bath tub with bubbles, put on some romantic music, grabbed a bottle of bubbly and I sat in the tub waiting for him to shave. Haha.. He did everything but fill the tub ya’ll.
After he was finished, he joined me in the tub for some relaxation! He poured us some wine and played sweet melodies on the radio. We were talking about life in general, and all the trips we’ve been on and want to do in the future. In mid sentence, Kelly asked So are you ready for your birthday present? I said, I can open it in the tub? Are you sure?. Sure why not, he said. So out he went to get my gift.. Now I’m thinking.. I’m getting an iPhone, I’m getting an iPhone, so I’m drying off my hands as good as they get.. In comes Kelly with this gift that looks like it could be the box of an iPhone. He gets back in the tub and I’m opening it… slower than dirt I bet, but that’s besides the point. I got into the box and into the tissue paper, and see this beautiful black box that says DeVon’s!
OMG, my temperature is rising I’m getting excited. But, not too excited, cause it could be earrings. So!! I look at him and I look at the box.. I look at him again, and he’s starting to get on one knee.. and I looked at the box again, opened it, and immediately put my hands over my face!! ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW!! He didn’t even ask me yet.. LOL.. Then he popped the question! Will you marry me? OMG, OMG, OMG, Are you serious right now? Kelly, are you serious.. Well will you answer me? haha.. YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!! I threw my arms around him, luckily without drowning the poor guy and told him he made my dream come true!
