After I bought the ring I asked for a sit down with her father, Mr. Eligio Vargas to ask for his daughter's hand in marriage and he gave me his blessing. On Friday, August 26, 2011, we got engaged at Francesca’s restaurant in Lake Forest.I wanted to go to a nice dinner downtown that evening, but Leticia being tired said no………. I asked again and she said no again and again. I then knew I would have to change plans and propose by her place somewhere in the suburbs. I selected Francesca’s in Lake Forest as an alternative to a downtown romance. When I finally arrived at her place that night I pitched the idea of a nice dinner at Francesca’s to Leticia and she said “No. Why do you want to spend the money going to that restaurant? If you want Italian food we can go across the street to RJ’s tavern where we can get a pizza and it will be much cheaper.” As you can assume, Leticia was very clueless at this point what my intensions were. After the downtown idea and the mention of Francesca’s she still couldn’t take a hint. After several objections I had to be the bad guy that doesn’t listen to her suggestion and go against it. We barely made it out to Francesca’s and arrived towards the end of night when it was almost empty. We had dinner and then I planned on proposing just before dessert was served. I got up to use the restroom to prepare. I came back in time right before the dessert arrived. With the restaurant empty I walked up to the booth we were seated at, got down on one knee, and proposed. Leticia was completely shocked and speechless. I asked for an answer but Leticia was so shocked she began moving her mouth but no sound was coming out. Leticia finally snapped out of it and said yes! Dessert had arrived shortly thereafter and the waiter was stunned because he didn’t expect it. The waiter then commented that when we had walked in earlier he remembered thinking that we were one of the cutest looking couple that he had seen. The waiter then brought over shots of limoncello on the house and we had the most memorable toast. Leticia absolutely adored the ring. Phone calls were made that night and the next day to family and friends who all wished us the best and gave us their blessing. |
