So not many of you know Ben was going to propose the first night we spent in the house we bought together and have made our home. We moved into Ambrosia the day before a hurricane! We were moving from a flood zone A into a flood zone D so it was a last ditch effort to save all of our belongings ‘just in case’. We hired a moving company, best decision ever, and it was still so stressful and nerve wracking we fought like cats and dogs all day long. Needless to say, he decided maybe it wasn’t the best time. We spent the next 5 days without power in our new home. Super fun cleaning popcorn dust off of everything still and unpacking in the dark. But we survived.
So then Ben was met with a dilemma, well where do I do this?
A couple months later we had a vacation planned. My boss at Melting Pot is human and forgot I had requested the week off so I ended up working for half of Ben’s vacation. Mike was still awesome and gave me a few days off so we planned a trip to Savannah, GA. We had an awesome time the first time we went there and there’s so much to do you can’t do it all in one trip.
So Ben’s plan was to get trolley tickets and we’d ride the trolley around and he’d propose at Forsythe Park in front of the fountain. Well when we get there it’s going to be $60 for two trolley tickets and my crazy self says ‘no, we can just stay close within walking distance’. Well Ben agrees because he totally forgot about Forsythe Park. Half way through the day I can tell something is off about him. Later he tells me he was freaking out trying to figure out what he was gonna do now. We went to the art museum, had lunch at our favorite place, just walked around aimlessly.
It was getting dark and we start heading back to the car we’d parked on River Street. We drop off my shopping bags at the car and he says he has to go to the restroom again before we get on the road. So we walk down from the parking lot by the river and some trees and brick steps. He holds my hand and starts talking. “My life has only gotten better from the moment I met you and I’d like to spend the rest of it with you too. Will you marry me?” He slips the ring on my finger and I jump into his arms, “Yes! Yes! Yes!” We head back to the car all smiles and made our way back to pick up Lady and head on home.
Here we are a year and a half later finally tying The Knot. |
