Bride

We were staying at Matt's mom's condo in Cocoa Beach for July 4th weekend. The night before, July 3rd, 2016, we had watched an amazing firework show from the front porch. The next morning we both woke up super early without an alarm going off (which is unusual for us). Matt asked if I wanted to go watch the sunrise from the beach. Since we try to do that at least once while staying at the beach, I didn't suspect anything. We walked down, laid out a blanket and started to watch the sunrise. Matt brought his gopro camera with him to take a time lasp video of the sunrise. Since Matt uses his gopro for a lot of videos this wasn't unusual. He went to "go adjust the camera" so I took a video on my phone. When I turned around Matt was on one knee and popped the question. I said yes as soon as I realized he wasn't joking.

Groom

I had the ring since April 2016 and every chance I got I would pretend to propose. Whether it was when I was tying my shoe or picking up something off the ground, I knew it would throw Megan off of any ideas she might of had. This gave me plenty of time to figure out the perfect time to pop the question. I always knew I wanted to do it on July 4th, it was just a matter of finding the perfect set up. I had been up for an hour waiting for the time to get closer to sunrise so I could wake Megan up to take her down to the beach. When Megan finally woke up, I knew this was the moment I was waiting for. I grabbed my gopro under the pretense of taking a time lasp video, and we walked down to the beach. After fumbling around in my pocket trying not to show that I had a ring, I moved it to my back pocket hoping I wouldn't drop it. If it wasn't for my tight dryfit pants it would've been a little easier. Once I got everything just right and started videoing, Megan was distracted which gave me the perfect time to fumble through my pocket nervously and pull out the ring. I got down on one knee and waited for Megan to turn around. Knowing that she might think it was a joke, I had to make sure the ring was shining bright in that sunrise light. I could tell it did because the look on her face was everything I could've imagined and hoped for. I think I said some words that ended up in a sentence that were like, "will you marry me?". I had so much more to say, but in the moment all I could think about was asking her the question I had been wanting to hear her say yes to since April. Most people probably can't wait to long after getting a ring to ask their true love that question, and most were surprised when I told them how long I had it for. However, I wanted that moment to be perfect and mean something to our relationship and our future. In this crazy world we all live in, it's important to make your moments special in a way that can only be defined by you and no one else.
