Liz and Aishie were blessed to have such wonderful and thoughtful people planning their Bridal Shower. As some of you know, Liz has an affection for tea sets. Also as some of you know, Aishie is a bit of a hippie-sunshiney type of person. With this in mind, the planners (Tyler, Jody, and Kate) thoughtfully decided on a Spring Tea theme.

The guest list was hard for the brides to decide on. Of course, we need to keep the numbers down so that we don’t overwhelm our hostesses but how in the heck do we do that when we want to invite everybody we know? We even toyed around with the thought of inviting the guys…but then what men actually want to go to a bridal shower??? LOL.

Jody was gracious enough to host the festivity at her house and her, Tyler, and Kate went to work planning away! During this time, which was indeed busy for everybody involved, you would think just a nice little gathering with a couple store-bought snacks and a balloon and/or streamer tossed around here or there would suffice, wouldn’t you? It certainly did! We were content with our quaint assembly.

Okay okay…to be more precise, you can switch out “store-bought snacks” with delicious veggies, fruit, chips, dips, and HOMEMADE gourmet scrumptious cheesecakes. Pretty good, huh? Yum! Yum! You’re probably thinking that of course the tea was store-bought…I mean, who would go through all the trouble to create their own tasty and unique tea recipes in today’s busy world (not just make the tea from scratch but CREATE THE RECIPES)?? Yes, yes…you guessed it…we even had homemade gourmet flavored tea at our bridal shower. Of course, the decorations were run of the mill streamers and balloons and what not. NO!! Again I tell you NO!! Don’t even think it!! We had fancy little romantic quotes, typed out tidbits about love, and inspirational feel-good statements discussing the wonders of affection. The streamers were there, too, thank goodness…because what kind of party doesn’t have streamers?!

We were amazed and pleased with the planning talents of these three and with the fun and worry-free atmosphere they created. It was great visiting with guests, snacking on grub, reading the inspirational sayings, playing fun bridal shower games, and opening gifts.  We are blessed to have so many wonderful women in our lives; and thankfully, quite a few of them were able to make it to this wonderful celebration! It truly means a lot that so much thought and kindness was poured into this fun time!

If our bachelorette parties could talk, they'd say "we may be small but we sure do pack a punch!" I went off to say goodbye to my freedom the right way: with a crazy little crew and a little assortment of booze (to come clean, it was maybe just a little more booze than we’re used to). Liz and her crazy crew decided to go out and hit the bars, also saying goodbye to freedom the right way, if not a bit more of an expensive way. Hey!...I can nag now since it is after the wedding, right?

Actually, although we were living it up with some offensively named made up drinks,  hilarious banter, impromptu ninja fighting, and an outrageously fun mermaid game at our party, I couldn’t resist the call to meet up with Liz and her gang at Eck’s saloon as the night grew later. Our favorite local live rock band (The Seventh Time) happened to be playing so it was on!! I hung up on Liz, stumbled into the other room, or inside?, or outside?, well, wherever, and asked my girls if we could go meet up with the other bachelorette crew (mostly comprised of guys by the way) and they seemed just as excited as I was. Wait a minute, is that statement due to my foggy memory or honest to goodness reality?? Hmm…well, we may never know! We all threw on some party clothes, some makeup, and waited for the cab. “Monica! Is the cab here yet??” “Hey Mon, is the cab here??” lol. Allegedly it didn’t take long for the cab to get there!

I have to say that, once again, I am incredibly impressed with the unselfishness, support, and good spirit that our family and friends show us. Neither of us were forced into any uncomfortable situations by well-meaning  but misguided friends or teased endlessly about how we just HAD to meet up together in the end. Sure, there were some battle wounds and we were afraid that Liz’s scraped up knee or our slightly beat up egos might not get over the craziness of the night in time for the wedding; but really, this was a fantastically fun night to remember!!…mostly ;-)
