| | | I fell in love over a bowl of risotto.
When Greg and I worked together at his restaurant he would always get behind the kitchen bar at last call and fix us, the wait staff, some food while we closed down for the night. On this one particular night he was making a sweet potato bisque risotto bowl.
As soon as he set my bowl in front of me a few people walked through the door and headed straight for my section. Being a bit grumpy about the guests, I couldn’t wait to eat my steaming hot bowl of risotto but upon returning to it I realized I had let it get ice cold. I mumbled to myself in disappointment as I walked back to check on my guests.
About five minutes later I came back to my seat at the kitchen bar only to find ANOTHER piping hot bowl risotto! Not only that but right beside it was fresh spoon on top of a clean folded napkin. I was so surprised and immediately bashful! I had never had anyone pay that close attention to me before or even care to do anything so sweet for me. This will sound crazy, and sure it was my emotions getting the better of me, but that first spoonful of risotto was so fantastic that it literally made me cry!
I knew my heart had fallen in love.
Who would have thought a love story could start over a bowl of risotto. But then again, the best love stories are rarely ever “normal”. |
