We met in April of 2009. Douglas was a senior at Dakota Ridge High School and Kim was a junior at Green Mountain High School. We both attended WarrenTech, a technical school for high school students, but we didn't know that at the time. Long story short we met sort of through a mutual frthird, but mostly through MySpace. Our first date was bowling with Torri and James. In fact, I started to think he really did not like me because the only thing he said to me all night was "do you like to walleye fish?" HA! My response was "I like to fish, I guess its cool if I catch a walleye.." But he came the next day to meet my parents and I realized he was just nervous :) Although we had only known each other 3 days, he asked me out because 'he didn't want me to get away'..awwww. That was April 26, 2009. It didn't take long for us to become inseperable. He would leave my favorite flower, the colorado wild sunflower, on my windsheild or bring me a dozen roses and handwritten card at work. Yes he was romantic, and lucky for me he still is. The first two years flew by, we had both graduated and I was in my first year at the School of Mines. On April 25, 2011 the day before our two year anniversary, we closed on our first house. We have been incredibly blessed and our house seems to grow smaller and smaller every day. My garden has been my summer love and I spend every chance I get sitting in the middle of my tomato patch. On July 28, 2012 I found a diamond ring hanging on my cherry tomato bush. Douglas proposed once I found it and I of course said Yes!.. So here we are, planning our wedding! |
