Paul and Eduardo first met at a film festival. Art and Jason first spotted Eduardo and said to Paul, that is the man for you. Paul looked at Eduardo and Eduardo smiled at Paul. As they left the theatre Paul asked Eduardo to hand him a pencil so that he could grade the movie they had just seen... of course this was just a way to get Eduardo’s attention. Eduardo handed Paul the pencil and that was it... Paul still wanting to get Eduardo’s attention, taps Eduardo on the shoulder again, this time he give the pencil back to Eduardo. Eduardo takes the pencil and smiles. Again, that’s it. 

Paul leaves with Art and Jason to go to the VIP party. There they see Eduardo walk in alone. Art and Jason insist that Paul go to speak to Eduardo. Paul walks over to Eduardo, taps Eduardo on his shoulder (now for the third time) when Eduardo turns around, Paul asks, Can I borrow a pencil. They laugh and talk all night long. That was the beginning of their life long journey together.
