In today’s day in age it shouldn’t be a surprise to find your soulmate through social media, but it was for us.
It started on Instagram, trying to find photos from a recent convention. When a photo with one of his friends appeared with two young women in Star Wars cosplays. One thing lead to another and he began to follow the girl who posted the picture. Coming across photos of her life and realizing, she lived in the same area as he.
Like all social media, there were “likes” and “comments” shared but she had no idea who he was and thought nothing of it.
Skip ahead to the infamous “cupcake day”
It was her friend’s birthday and she decided to contribute baking cupcakes for his surprise party. She posted a series of pictures showing what she was baking. Many people left comments about how delicious they looked and how they wanted them. Including a particular gentleman. Again she thought nothing of it, or him because, they did look delicious and multiple people wanted them. He was persistent, asking if she had any leftover if he could have. She rolled her eyes and said “sure” thinking he was just pulling her leg.
The next day she awoke to a message from this guy who seemed to really like cupcakes, asking if there were any left. She said yes and after talking for a little bit she decided she’d meet him at Starbucks so he could have the cupcake he so desperately wanted.
What she thought would be a quick drop off turned into a 3 hours long conversation. She was embarrassed because she was a hot mess after a very long night. He was nice but being the naive person she was, she just thought she had made a new, really cool, friend.
She later discovered, he didn’t just want cupcakes…. |
