Galway

We'll fly into Shannon Airport, pick up the rental car and spend our first 5 nights at a wonderful hotel in Galway. The Cliffs of Moher are nearby and the spa at the hotel we've heard is out of this world.

The Twelve

Fun fact: Galway is home to the longest place name in Ireland, Muckanaghederdauhaulia, which means “piggery between two briny places”.

Galway is often referred to as the “Cultural Heart of Ireland” as it is most associated with the Irish language, music, song and dance traditions.

The Claddagh Ring (the ring with two hands clasping a heart, topped with a crown), Aran Sweater (those cozy wool, off-white sweaters), and the Galway Hookers (a fishing boat, people!) are all Irish symbols that hail from Galway.

Collooney Manor

Collooney, Sligo

Next up is 1 night at Collooney Manor. Built in the 1840s this beautiful family house has never not been home to the O'Hara family. Rich in Irish history, Annaghmore retains its old shabby chic charm, the house doesn't promise to be perfect, but comfortable and fun!

Fintown, Donegal

Next is our longest stay of 4 nights at Pete and Anna's cosy cabin with a stunning Glenveagh view.

"The Hide" is a cosy, handcrafted cabin nestled on a slope with stunning views towards Glenveagh National Park. Just fifteen minutes drive from The Wild Atlantic Way makes "The Hide" is ideal for a peaceful retreat and a great base for exploring Donegal.

Glenties, Donegal - Jeannie's Favorite

"The Swallow's Nest" – A unique and thoughtfully renovated stone shed offers a completely peaceful and relaxing break in the hills of Donegal.

We've heard rumor that Allaye, the host, greets her guests with a fire warming the house and a basket full of her homemade scones. If we're lucky, she may even invite us into town to hear her play the fiddle with other musicians at the local pub.

Cottage on the Wild Atlantic Way

Donegal, Donegal - John's Favorite

Located off the Wild Atlantic Way, Croaghacullion is a traditional Donegal coastal cottage that enjoys a remarkable secluded position overlooking Lougheraherk (lake).

The cottage sits tucked away from the rest of the world down a dirt track next to the shore.

 Neighbors.

Westport

Westport, Ireland

While we spend a few nights in this coastal town, we may even visit a local oyster farm. Check out the awesome oyster pics from this Westport Airbnb experience and try not to salivate!

Westport, Ireland

Athenry, Galway

We wind down our trip with a stay in this 200-yr Restored Church! The guests are greeted by the resident and friendly hounds of the hosts and we're excited to meet them all!

Restored 200-yr old church

Bookeen Hall is a 200 year old church about 20 minutes from Galway City and within easy reach of the Cliffs of Moher, The Burren and Connemara.
