I first saw Jen at work- she was lively and had a beautiful smile. Since it was the workplace, I worried that it would not be professional to pursue anything. Early in the year, our work decided to form a team for the Hood to Coast race. And wouldn’t you know it, we were on the same team! The team met weekly for practice and that’s how we got to know one another. I wasn’t sure, but I was pretty confident that she liked me because she kept laughing at my sarcastic humor. Our team captain, Henry kept on asking what I thought of Jen but I told him that I did not want to get involved in a workplace relationship. Another team member said we would look good as a couple! (Secretly, I had already asked her out on a date after a team meeting but we decided to wait until we finished the race). The day of the Hood to Coast event arrived, and our team was stuck in little SUV that seated five- we had six people. After her first leg, Josh and I had to carry her back to the vehicle. I began to think she was a wimp. When night hit, I discovered she was crabby when she didn’t get her sleep. When we were driving to another checkpoint, I noticed she was using me as a pillow, and drooling on me. Then I knew right then and there she really had to like me (ha-ha). After the race I could not wait for our first date and hoped it would lead to something special. |
