Steve and I decdied to take a trip to San Francisco in September. He is a HUGE Giants fan and neither of us had been there since we were kids. We had been dating for about 7 months at this point and discussed getting married back in month 3, so I had just been waiting and waiting. lol

It happened on the second day of our trip. We purchased tour bus tickets so we could really get a full tour of the city. We got a 48 hour pass that also included a night tour of the city. So, day 2 we had been spending most of the time at the piers and shopping. Steve...being the gentleman that he is...took a backpack and said that it was so that he could carry everything and I wouldnt have to worry about lugging around a purse the whole time. I was super impressed to say the least. So as we went about our day, whenever I needed to get anything out of the backpack, he would just take it off and get it out for me. Again, I didn't think twice about this as he is always taking care of me. It was time to get in line for the night tour and as we were waiting to board the busses, I decided to go into the 7-11 near by to get some drinks. I just went around behind him to get my wallet out of the bag and before he could realize what I was doing, i had the bag unzipped. As I was pulling things out to get to my wallet, I noticed he had his Beats headphones case in his bag. I thought that was weird since we didn't need them and they were so bulky. When I handed them to him, I asked why he had the case. He just said he was holding something in it and so I played along and didnt say anything. Well, as I was putting a few things back in the bag, he handed me the Beats case and I had a feeling...so I put it back in the backpack slowly while feeling it out and sure enough there was what I could tell was a ring box inside. I didn't want to ruin the surprise so I just acted like I didn't notice anything and went and got the drinks. The whole rest of the night I was just gitty. It was hard to pay attention to what we were seeing as I was distracted wondering when he was going to do it. We had dinner reservations that night at Boudins so I figured thats when it would happen.

We traveled over the Oakland Bay Bridge and parked in a parking lot on Treasure Island. The tour guide announced that we would be able to get off and have a great view of the city all lit up across the bay. When the bus stopped and we stood up to get off, Steve said he would be down in a second because he wanted to get some gum out of his backpack. To me, this made sense and didn't seem out of the ordinary. When I got off the bus I walked to the edge of the water and started taking pictures. After a minute I looked around for Steve and couldn't see him anywhere. He wasn't on the bus or anywhere around me. Finally I found him down on the other end from me. I walked over to see what he was doing. That's when I saw the tour guide taking pictures for people. We got in line and were next. I walked up to the shore line as Steve gave the guide his phone. I was standing there smiling like anyone else would...waiting for the flash...and then Steve pulls my attention to him. He looks at me, kisses me and says "You know how much I love you, right"? As he is saying this he is getting down on one knee. I was in total shock and lost it. He is a man of few words, said "will you marry me" and I started crying. I looked down in the cute little light up jewelery box and there was this beautiful ring with the most perfect pink Sapphire I could have ever imagined. He nailed it!!! I am so glad that it was all on video and our guide announced it to the whole crowd. Everyone started cheering and chanting for us to kiss. The rest of the night was kind of a blur. I know we both called our moms...they both knew he planned on doing it at some point on our trip and were waiting every day for the call...and then had the best clam chowder sourdough soup bowls and went back to our hotel. The next day was the Giants game and I remember constantly looking down at my finger and just grinning. The Giants ended up winning and it was the cherry on top of our amazing first vacation together. I cannot wait for all the other adventures we will have in our future and the memories we will make. We couldn't be happier!!!

I was not able to upload the video here on this page, but here is the YouTube address:

Steve and I met on February 10, 2015. We met for dinner at Olive Garden and I was super nervous. It was definitely a date that we will never forget. Not for the reason you would think though. Of course it was the night that I finally met the man of my dreams. The man that would become my best friend and favorite person to spend time with. The man who would treat me like a queen and never be in a bad mood. The man who makes me happier than i ever knew possiible.

The unforgettable part was that there was something ODD about that night. Literally, our waiters name was Odd. Whether it was his real given name or an abreviation of a longer name, we will never know, but the name definitely did suit him. He was very akward, definietly odd looking and he loved to touch our breadsticks. Again, literally, constantly touched our breadsticks. He told us that he was not allowed to put more breadsticks on the table until there was one left. Well, because they are so good at math in the kitchen, he kept bringing us a basket with 3 breadsticks in it. So, every 5 minutes or so he would walk by, grab the napkin wrapped around the breakdsticks and then walk off. It was so consistant it was seeming like a nervous tick or something. What was at first very annoying turned out to be pretty entertaining and our first inside joke. So, if you every go to the Olive Garden on 106th South and you get a waiter named Odd...just plan on your breadsticks getting groped all night!
