Bride

This story starts several weeks before we actually got engaged. First of all Kenny accepted a new job, the one he has now that moved us from Columbia, SC to Ashburn, VA. When we found out we were moving we made it a point to spend as much time with our friends and family, as we could. This included my best friend, and her husband Travis. Not only are we best friends, but we got two little girl puppies from the same litter- so we loved hanging out at each others houses, catching up and letting the girls play. So, one night we were over at their house having dinner and hanging out...during dinner, Marilyn said that she and Travis had been talking and wanted to know if we would want to take one last weekend getaway before we moved...of course I was on board and was even more excited when they mentioned Savannah, Georgia. They knew this was one of my absolute favorite places and I wouldn't turn it down. Leading up to the trip I was VERY busy, I was working, packing, trying to find a job, spending time with friends and family etc and taking care of a new puppy.. a few days before our trip Marilyn was asking me about what I was going to wear and where we wanted to eat- honestly I thought it was odd- because we are very casual- jeans, t-shirts and we always went to the same places to eat- but again I was so busy I didn't have time to think about it. Fast forward the day of the trip- Kenny and I leave bright and early to go pick Marilyn and Travis up -we all got settled in the car and was on our way. A little into our trip Kenny and Marilyn were trying to find all of these fancy restaurants to go to dinner at that night- I was really not participating because I don't really care for fancy food, and I am perfectly fine with chicken fingers. But, I just let it be. So after the restaurant was picked- Kenny wanted me to call the hotel to see if we could check in early- (like 4 hours early) I told him he was crazy and there was no way I was doing that, I might have done it like an hour early...but not 4. He kept on asking me to call- and I was being a brat and refused (now I know, he wanted to check in early because he didn't want to leave my ring in the car while it was in a parking garage- oops!). So we get to Savannah and go park in a parking garage and go find somewhere for lunch. We have lunch and right afterwards it literally started pouring down rain- so we went back to the car to go check in to the hotel. Now, it is storming- thunder, lighting, torrential down pour- etc... we were hanging out watching TV etc and then all of a sudden Marilyn says "Let's get dressed up to go to the park to take some pictures!" I am pretty sure my response was "ummm you are crazy, there is no way I am getting dressed up to go to a park in this weather" they kept on and on so finally I got up, and pouted through getting all dressed up- we went out to the car in the pouring rain to drive to the park. We arrived to Forsyth Park (if you have not heard of it- google it- it is GORGEOUS) and sat in the car waiting for the rain to pass. It finally cleared up so we got out and started walking around the park- Marilyn was having us pose in all different ways so she could take our pictures and we could take theirs- the rest is a blur- I remember noticing the Travis and Marilyn fell behind us while we were walking and Kenny starts talking to me about how encouraging I have been- I remember thinking umm this is how engagements start and I looked at him and said "Kenny this isn't funny, this is not something to joke about..next thing I know he was down on one knee with a BEAUTIFUL ring staring me in the face! I will never forget the way I felt in that moment.  I knew in that moment that everything would always be okay since I now had him on my side forever! As soon as I could get myself together I called my parents, my sister, a couple of great friends and my grandparents to tell them the news. When we got back to the car I said- ok lets go put our jeans back on and cancel our fancy plans and just have chill evening! We spent the rest of the weekend enjoying each other and the time we had together. The whole weekend was perfect! Kenny knew exactly what my "perfect" weekend would look like! We have so many pictures from that weekend, and it is one that I will NEVER forget. And for the record I did feel bad for being a brat- I apologized :)
